335i E90 vs. '06? Pontiac GTO
Well, I don't have SSTT yet but I plan on purchasing one within the next couple of weeks. Right now I only have a BMC drop in filter.
I was a a light yesterday and a newer Pontiac GTO pulls up along side of me, the light goes green and he jumps about a 3/4 of a car's length ahead of me. I did catch him and was about 1/4 car length ahead when I hit 60 and let off the gas. I was VERY impressed by the GTO's performance and had no idea Pontiac was still putting out cars with such muscle. |

This is a good site to become familiar with:
http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html If you are stock and it was truly an LS2 GTO then you probably should not have been able to catch him. Maybe it was a 5.7 (2004-LS1) liter instead of the 6.0 (2005-06 - LS2)? |

Here's on one craigs list. I'm surprised the trap speed isn't higher than 105.
2005 Pontiac GTO (The Cobra Killer). LS-2 Engine, 400HP, 400 ft.lbs. torque. Auto Trans. 40,000 miles left on extended warranty. 13.37 sec. @ 105.4 mph at Infineon Raceway. Always garaged, Excellent Condition, 6 CD changer in dash. Dark Metalic Blue w/Ebony Interior 60K miles because it the most fun car to drive! Would keep it, but moving to snow country. |

Just because it looks like a Cavalier, doesn't mean that it performs like one!

LS2 GTO would have pulled on your pretty well even stock. A friend of mine trapped 109 w/ his stock LS2 GTO. That is on par w piggyback only 335's.....

My encounters with GTO's 6.0 ls2 has always been victorious for me. I had a chance to race them not just in Tucson @3100ft but also once in Phoenix 1250ft. In both cases I comfortably pulled 2-4 cars on the 1/4 mile.
One of my times in Phoenix(stock) was 13.6@102 vs the GTO'S (6.0l) 14.1@100. I think they should be very close stock. |

what's holding back in the GTO is weight, plain and simple. The last couple years of the GTO had the same LS2 motor as in the Corvette. Corvette weighs 600-700 lbs. less, runs .6-.7 of a second faster. That being said they are still quick cars capable of 4.7-4.8 0-60's and low 13's in the 1/4 in stock form. You probably ran into a 2004 with the 350HP 5.7L LS1 not the 400HP 6.0L LS2.

Yep, weight is killing them, but here comes the extra power and weight reduction. As far a handling there are excellent $1800-2200 complete packages that transforms them into "on rails" handling and allows them to pull 1.4 - 1.6 (60') feet time with help of drag radials.

The GTO is too heavy, and apparently, they don't run well in warm, humid weather. I ran with a guy in a GTO 6.0L w/ a very loud exhaust (and who knows what else??? ) and I beat him by ~ 2 CLs to ~ 100mph w/ v1.47. Also, both times I went to the track, I saw a couple of GTO 6.0L's, and both times, they each ran in the low 14's (different cars btw), while I ran 13.0 sec. @ 106.67mph with v1.47 and 12.8 sec. @ 110.52mph with v2...like in my sig.

If you ever ran into somebody that ran a 14 in a gto, tell them to learn how to drive. My last car was a 06 gto and with just 4 mods (cam,LT,catback, tune) all for under 2500 your can have a 420-450whp and similar tq monster. The gtos main problem is yes it is a pig, and they heatsoak pretty quick so you can't hotlap them. The ls2 pulls really hard above 100mph, for the price the gto is a very good car.
