2006 325i Silver Dashboard Trim Replacement Project
Hi Guys,
I have 2006 325i 4 door and came with dark walnut dashboard trim. I will make it very simple if any of you who want replace the dark color trim. 1) I purchased the right and left dashboard trims online and called and confirmed compatibility (both $64!) from ECS tuning store. The one I ordered is Titan Dash (Plastic) Trim. They also have fine brushed aluminum as well. I wasn't sure at the web site quality of the trims by looking at their pictures but I received them yesterday and they look incredible and sturdy. + Trims are made in from Germany. Honestly I was expecting a cheaply made plastic for this price. 2) I followed this instruction & video and started with the left small one. Starting with small trim will give you also some perspective for the big one. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=trim+removal Be patient! Difficult part is to replace right side the big one. Vents are in the middle little tightly attached to existing one so it wasn't easy to remove them. I popped them out from side with little force. Don't forget the unscrew the (2) nuts because they attached to vents through existing trim. Start button also comes out easily once you remove the trim. Just squeeze the side from behind the button and disconnect the button. Nice part is to put everything back to new trim & dashboard. It takes only couple minutes. 3) I will also post some pictures for you to see. Since now I know the quality of the trims, now I can replace the side trims and eventually center console as well. If a clumsy guy like me can do this, I am sure you guys can do it I hope this helps. Ps: These trims are ready to install. You don't need any bolts, nuts, clips etc... Cheers. |

Superb job man. I kicked around doing this myself, but because I have the tan/beige interior, it just wouldn't look right, so I bailed on the idea.

techietaichi,
Mine is Titan color and you are right it is little darker for your interior. Would you consider this instead? http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-325...Trim/ES117049/ It is not dark as mine in terms of color and brushed aluminum goes wonderful with everything as you know. Quality wise they are very solid and even mine looks like metal. If I were you I would get a aluminum vinyl sample from a signage shop and see how it looks. It is up to you. Don't let your ideas die. |
