I had a 2002 x5 for 120,000 miles. Would have had it longer if not for a transmission failure and blown head gasket at the same time. Did a trade I. For a 2010 x5. I always drive my cars till annual maintenance exceed new car costs on a 4 year loan or car dies on the side of the road catastrophically.

(A similar thread on an Audi forum received a ton of responses in 24 hours, none of which were derogatory).
First: Thank you to those who took the time to vote! Second, perhaps I can address the concerns: I'll see if I can get the options changed for the 1 - 2 year owners. Pointless? Not really, it gives people who don't have a BMW an idea of how long people tend to keep their vehicles - considering these are expensive vehicles one would think they are going to be kept for a while. Skewed as it's only been out for 7 years? I entirely disagree - any vehicle which has been in production for this length of time should have a proven track record - one way of measuring satisfaction is length of ownership. |

I fall into the 1-2 years option not here -- plan on keeping this car for a couple more years, and hope to upgrade to a e90 M3 next!

Bought my 07 335i right after finishing my undergrad in 08 and paid it off in three years. Have had the car for 4 years and still love it.

I find a car a like and am willing to maintain it.
I hate the car buying process . I have a 96 Integra as a beater had it for 16 years . Most of my cars have been averaging at least 10 years. |

Just got my E92 a couple months ago and am loving it so far even though I never get to drive it. Had an E28 535i/5MT years ago, still miss that car but had to let it go, needed too much work. I tend to keep cars for a couple years but a good one I will hang onto for a while. Had a Scirocco for probably close to 10 years and still regret selling it, it was in better shape when I sold it than when I got it.

I've had mine since February 2012. My previous driver, my truck, I've had since 2000. I'll likely hang on to my car for a while. If nothing else, I'll get another car eventually and make this a track car!

15 months of ownership, 9 months diving, 6 months dealing with repairs, etc.
So probably in the new year, might trade the car in.

I've had my E90 for 11 months. I tend to buy 2-3 year old cars, keep them for a year or 2 and then trade them in, but I think I will switch things up a bit this time and hang onto this one for a while. I may turn it into a weekend/backup car once the M4s are out, though. This car is a lot of fun and I can't imagine giving it up for a while
