I didn't think the steering was as numb as everyone was making it out to be, but it IS. I had a 328i loaner and test drove a 435i and the steering felt like an Accord. My favorite aspect of the E92 is the heavy/accurate steering and it really is the reason why I won't get a non-M BMW next round. Also, it seems like they realllllly cut corners with the interior build quality and materials.

My hunch is this will change, unless it becomes something everyone likes (unfortunately newbies like it, they think older cars are broken). The technology hasn't caught up yet, or isn't as refined. When I drove the 991 Porsches last year, I had meant to be critical/observant of the EPS, and was so excited that I forgot. This indicates it can't be "that" bad.

Again, look at the styling of the new 5, finally a model which no longer has that straight edge look that is on every model 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 (also add an X). It was bad, and about time they acknowledged it and changed it.

I text drove an IS250 before I got my 128i. TBH kinda boring. I didn't really "get on it" but the ride left more to be desired. I'm sure the F-sport package and IS350 would be way better.

I don't see it changing for the better, I let my sister drive my E92 335i and she thought the power steering was out "is this REALLY how its supposed to be?!" BMW's vision for the future are autonomous vehicles so we're just drifting further and further away from driving instruments to...well...appliances. I think the E92/F30 are the last of a very special breed.

I test drove an Audi S5 and thought the steering was pretty awesome for electric, so maybe VW Group has their shit together. I do want to test drive an M2 or M4 to see how much better they are than the newer non-M cars.

Agree. The E9x were the last of the analog BMWs and last of the naturally aspirated motors. I think these will become classics and intend to keep mine forever.
