i was in the bahamas a year ago or so and i saw something swimming towards me..thought it was a snorkeler because i was only about 15-20 feet out and there were plenty of people frolicking having a good time and whatnot ....then i say to myself " this guys not gonna move? does he not see me" at that point i realize it was a sting ray.....it came to within about a foot or two of me and turned and swam away...i nearly shat myself

Similar thing happened to me. Did a surf lesson in Waikiki, drifted away from everyone but didn't realize it. Saw instructor frantically waving for me to get back towards him. Didn't realize til later that there was a shark spotted over where I was.
