How long have you had Alpina software flash installed?

I noticed you mentioned Drive mode is a little different with low rpm's for economy mode. Is it still OK to have it in regualr drive mode. I normally have my car in this D mode on the freeway and regualr driving. Although it would be nice to have the rest of the featues for a track day and the occasional spirited driving.

Any feedback would be great.
Jackson flashed my car about 2 months ago.

The car is definitely still OK in drive mode. My only "issue" is between the faster shifts and re-programing, when you take off at an "average" to "slow" rate in D, the car accelerates through the gears and almost feels like a CVT transmission. The tach bounces from 1750-2250rpm and the gears change so fast, before you know it, you are doing 40mph in D6. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it just feels a bit "unnatural" and it's not what I'm used to.

Floor it in "D" and the only difference is the faster shifts (which mean you go faster)!

Here is a quick and (kinda shitty) video I made trying to show how the software performs:

Here is a acceleration video. I have the car in Sport mode so you can get an idea for how fast the car shifts:

How do you guys feel about Bear Tires in Miramar? I used them awhile back and they seemed to provide decent/cheap service?

I thought I'd throw it out to see if anyone wants to caravan up to the meet and drive up to Mt Wilson next week!

Calling all BMW Convertibles! It's been a while since we've had a VERT meet/drive to Mt Wilson. Meet at Starbucks on Foothill and Gould in LaCanada/Flintridge, CA. at 9am, drive up Angeles Crest Hwy and stop for photo op. This will be a leisurely drive and not a speed drive. I checked out the route last week and there are too many patrols with laser guns at several turnouts! We will stop for a photo op on Angeles Crest Hwy at one of the major turnouts, then we will stop at the mouth of the Mt Wilson Road (for an outhouse break) before driving up to Mt Wilson with enough time between each car so you can enjoy the hairpin road and drive as slowly or quickly as you'd like and avoid rocks flying back at you! For those of you who have never been on this road, it's a great road to experience your car's and your own turning prowess! (Just don't drive irresponsibly!) We will have to pay for parking once at Mt Wilson. There is also a café, Cosmic Café, where you can purchase food and drink. The drive is great, the views are great, and we should finish up between noon and 1pm so you still have the rest of the weekend to enjoy. Feel free to invite other bimmer verts! I'll start the rsvp list:

1. BoBoB (Blackonblackonblack) E93
2. (BoBoB's co-worker) Z4
3. tmdals0213 E93

17. Ron 2000 Z3

How was the caravan up to Mt. Wilson? I really wanted to go but couldn't fit it in to the family schedule...post the group pic when you get a chance. Let me know on the next one

...going out on a limb here...

I'm going to perform some major paint correction on my step-dad's Jet Black 2006 745i. Is there anyone out there who is willing to let me test out a Flex 3401, Griots, or Rupes DA polisher? I currently have a PC 7424XP, but wanted to test out any of these new polishers to help decide which to upgrade to...if and when ever I upgrade.

I'm in 4S Ranch/RB but am willing to meet up or pick up....

Thanks in advance.

If you can leave the car with me for several days I would...lol. I guess it also depends on how much work is needed on your car. I have a full-time career, detailing is a hobby for me so I do it on the side.

Noob question for you, my trunk was repainted and doesn't match the rest of my car perfectly as there is more orange peel to it and less shine. Is this something that paint correction would fix? If so you can borrow mine

The only way to remove the orange peel effect is to wet sand the entire trunk with maybe 2000grit followed by 3000 grit. Then hit it with a compound and polish combo like Meguiars M105/M205. I don't have any experience wet sanding so unfortunately don't want you to be my guinea pig...

Joining in a little late, but I have also used SD Tire & Wheel off Auto Parkway in Escondido, never had any issues, and get some decent tires for cheap.

Did you get it done? I've had it for a few months now and it's awesome. Good to know what gear you're in when in regular Drive mode.
