IF it could be done, I imagine it would be with some non-standard custom coding. But that's still not going to get you the rocker switch you're looking for.

Clearly a signal is being sent from applying the trans into reverse. If there is a way I can tap the reverse wire to "turn on" as I hit my rocker switch, I wonder if that would do it.

Hi everyone!

I have a problem with retrofit on my e60 - reverse camera.

I connect emulator with cic, everythink is ok. White cable has a 12v when i turno on a reverse gear... But ...

Pdc is working only sound, on lcd from cic, i see only a normal menu radio, setting etc, no image of car with pdc, or parkmenu with camera. Nothing. Only sound from pdc.

Of course i cant add $3AG to e60 so i only code CIC "by hand" :-)

I change macro_pdc, macro_l6_parkmenu, macro_pdc_rearview to aktiv
I combinated with rvc_ to wert_23/21, with horizontal/vertikal and all of settings which maybe is working with camera - but without success :-( Only sound from pdc, when i comeback in macro_l6_parkmenu to nicht_aktiv - pdc and lcd view is working normally.

I think this is a problem with coding but i searched in google and every descriptions is about e90. Not about e60.

Maybe have you a solution for this?

Make sure the CAN wires going to the emulator and to the radio are twisted together tightly.

I searched in Google, that man change a radio from E90 (with coded $3AG) and everythink is working - when come back to CIC from E60 its not working.

PS.Of course radio from E90 its not working corectly in E60 because E60 not have a FRM etc and a lot of settings for example dayrunning lights its not work. So change of flash from E90 CIC to E60 CIC will not good.

Any solutions?

I would still check your wires. If the CAN signal gets scrambled, it will cause some weird issues.

Rotary Rasp We gotta figure out how to trick the system to think it's in reverse.

I did it on my Lexus IS by tapping the power wire and running a relay.

Following the directions here and in coding forum, I was successfully able to retrofit the back up camera in to my 2011 E92 coupe.

I obtained the trunk handle camera and wire module through the eBay seller and used a harness adapter to splice into the necessary cables as instructed. I was trying to find a coder to code, but in the end, I ended up buying a cable and refurbished laptop and coded it myself. Only difference that I saw in my case was that in modifying the VO, I could not find FRM module for the FA_WRITE section. I ended up modifying CAS module only and coded the changes in CIC as instructed. After CIC rebooted, I now have backup camera active and functional.

So after using it for few days, I am finding that the camera is not quite wide angle enough. It would be nice to see the edges of my rear bumper on the camera. Does anyone know if anyone sells a compatible wider angle lens that will fit into the trunk handle mount?

It's got the same viewing angle as the factory cameras on the newer BMWs. But to answer your question, not that I know of. The CIC will accept any camera. So, as long as you can make it fit in the trunk handle you should be fine. Let us know if you find something that works.

Just an FYI:

I have had a couple installs where the emulator would lag a few seconds when shifting into reverse. I have found that this is because the CAN wires going to the emulator and to the radio are not twisted together tightly.

If your video takes a second or two to appear after you select reverse, check your CAN wires.

Im just thinking about this connection of rear cam, but what about front camera? is that some way to use that without video interface?
probably turn on the front camera with pdc button...
did someone try also front cam?
