Maybe try a few local parts suppliers, try IMparts they were quite cheap for M3 brake rotors (cheaper than FCP euro etc)
I thought IMparts where trade only?

Just wanna share that Bmw Adelaide charge $1040.00 for a brand new valve cover . Looks like I'll either be ordering from fcp or Ecs as even with postage still good couple hundred cheaper

Why do you need to change the whole value cover if its only the gasket that needs to be replaced??

They are talking about broken covers.

They are prone to break often so best option would be to try and change the valve cover too.

I personally wouldn't unless I had to.

I managed to replace my on Thursday. I'll add it to the list of jobs I'm glad are done, and hope never to do again.

Make sure you have a set of tube spanners or at least a 10mm tube spanner to slot over the long shaft bolts - even my deep socket wasn't enough.

Also, the injectors don't need to come out - they are bolted on to the head separately to the valve cover.

My valve cover also wasn't cracked. Yay.

I was able to use my deep socket by putting the socket on first, then putting the extension on as far as it would go in (about half way in) and it worked well.

Was yours a 3/8" deep socket, or a 1/4" deep socket?

I only have 1/4" and 1/2" sockets - the 1/4" didn't have a space down the middle big enough.

It looks like the job was made for a tube spanner though:

Also, was your old gasket brittle? I was expecting it to be hard brittle plastic but it still came off in one piece. It was a little stiff, but not cracked or broken.

I used a 3/8" deep socket.

My old gasket was fine. Was a little hardened but peeled off on one peice.

It doesn't look too bad socks but a extra set of hands when putting the valve cover back on is worth gold

Thanks for the link Harms.

Looks like there is no mention of gasket sealants used around the corners of the gasket like in traditional value cover installs.
