Loading music into hdd
When I load files into my hdd it calls it usb1 (possibly the name of the stick).
I then have to click into that.. Then click into my folder of each artist.. Then file. Question, how do I get rid of that first folder? Do I need to rename the thumb drive to the collection name, then repeate for each collection??? Eg where does it get the 'usb1' from? |

Usb1 means first import from Usb. When you import new files, then they will be called usb2 usb3 and so on. You can import each time without root folder, so the files in the root of the usb stick. Then it will be called usb2 as example, but you can rename(which is possible with iDrive) it and call it as initially.

Thanks for that!
So your saying I can rename the USB1 folder to 'podcasts'? I can also import more tracks into that folder and not have them be placed in USB2? Can I also move music between root folders? (From USB1 to USB2 for example?) |

yes, you can rename. Moving do not work. I think on each import you get USBX folder. What can be tried( I'm going to try out): import your music and get usbX folder. Export it (iDrive function) change the structur on the backup usb stick. Reimport backup. But still not the hit..., as you have to each time export/import even if this works.

I was intending on doing this (importing music into the car's hard drive) so that I didn't have to move my iPod from my truck into my car. That is, until I realized the size of the drive was quite small (relatively speaking). I opted to just move my 120GB iPod into the car and plug it into the USB inside the center console. All folder structures appear on the iDrive screen properly without issues.
