Love it!!! But I have zero need (or income) for a M5 touring. The flip side is that I would do just about everything I could to get a 540i long roof. Even a 530e would be a for sure buy. Especially if it has the same battery and electric motor that the M5 is quoted as having. Call it a M540e touring. Would be the PERFECT car for my needs!

5er Touring is a great vehicle. We rented one for 10 days last year in Germany, Italy, Austria and Slovenia with 4 adults and luggage. Comfortable and enjoyable to drive.

2nd, The RS6 wagon weighs 5000 lbs my guess is that’s what this will be maybe more because of hybrid nonsense.

The M760i only weighs 180 pounds more with twin turbo V12 and full luxury everything. What a shame the RS6 is so heavy.

Now I just do not understand why people would get excited about a high-performance station wagon. I grew up with the Brady Bunch and their station wagon and also the family truckster from national lampoons vacation.
I can get why a Family might want a station wagon or mini van, but to me 50% of owning a high-performance vehicle is how it looks and there’s not a station wagon on the planet that looks cool to me. That doesn’t mean I’m against station wagon’s or minivans or things like that. I would just think if you were going to invest your hard earned money into a high-performance vehicle you would want it to look bad ass also. So I just do not get the Touring

For the same exact reasons I don’t and never will purchase X5M X3M GLE/GLS AMG. But will always choose wagon over those. For some reasons though people love and buy them. They’re worse as SUVs cause regular versions ride more comfortably and worse as performance vehicles cause sedans/coupes/wagons are quicker.

They definitely are quicker, but they are wagons. Wagons look significantly different than SUVs. IMHO

I am European. It possibly, just my opinion, comes down to generally wider roads and more space in general. Different infrastructure that allows for larger vehicles here in the states but also different design tastes. It possibly has something to do with how wagons are seen by Americans in general. Look at wagons made by US carmakers from 70s and 80s. All those Buicks, chevys etc with wooden panels around the body. For the same reasons pickups don’t sell in Europe. People consider them too big too thirsty and not utilitarian at all with uncover cargo space. They much prefer vans for that duty. Maybe that is how average American’s perception on those wagons today? I might be mistaken here but it seems to be the case for some. Average car buyer is not too knowledgeable if it comes to cars and just goes by what they see in commercials or talks to friends or family members that know a little more when making car purchase decision.

I believe some states have already (or are in the process) of banning new gas-powered vehicle sales in the next 10-12 years. While I agree with you that it will be awhile, the manufacturers are slowly going that way as well. There’s not nearly as many upcoming gas-powered vehicles in the pipeline.

All I’m saying is that I’d put a lot of money down it ain’t gonna happen. Nothing will be banned nationally. The vast majority of new vehicles in the current pipeline are ICE.
