Any XI guys with a tune?
I am sure there are guys out there with tunes, just wondering what your thoughts were. Having driven in a few 335i's recently, everytime I get back in my car I am disappointed. It seems like this car is completly different than the i's, which i understand, sorta is. I had the sstt and was happy with it for the most part, but am looking for something more. Planning on getting a flash at the end of the month, so I will see how that goes. Just wondering if you guys feel the same way as me with the xi. Thanks!

XIs are generally 300+lbs heavier than the I. Even with mods its still like having an extra fat dude in the car with you. I like the AWD traction but I'd have to say I would prefer alot less weight. I am getting a Dinan Stage II tune next week. Hopefully the car will feel less ponderous after the flash.

I would get the suspension upgraded first...
KW V1, KW V3, or H&R coil overs. There's not point in getting more engine performance when our suspension is worse than non-sport i's.

I stand corrected. Still a decent chunk of weight. Suspension would definitely help the handling department but I wanted the car a bit faster is all. Don't know what the OP is looking for specifically, but more power can't hurt.

I just bought a 335xi and am picking it up today. I might need to take the kids once in a while so I thought it might be a bit safer in winter. I ordered a JB3 chip too which should arrive by Monday. I want a bit more power to compensate for the fact that the AWD is a bit heavier and slower. I don't plan to race in the car so I am just going with the default map 3 setting. I don't know how much HP gain to expect since there is nothing listed for HP gains on each map, but I am guessing about 30HP. I have the sport package which includes the oil cooler and might consider the suspension upgrade along with DP. My wife drives an X5 so this car is primarily a commuter from home to work. I will give some feedback once I install the JB3 and give a comparison.

I went power before suspension. I'm running a JB3, aFe DCI, and secondary cat delete. I plan on going the full mod route now that my exterior is finally done but for me I can hold off on suspension until after I'm done with the engine.
I've driven a few I's and to me it wasn't as fun especially in damp conditions. The launch with my car makes XI worth every penny and every extra pound of weight it adds. If you're running stock RFTs I suggest changing them ASAP. It's a night and day difference now that they're gone. |

Not really a tune, but I have the JB+ at the default setting for now, running 93 Octane. Definite SOTP increase.

Not only does the weight slow us down, but we also have more drivetrain loss compared to the RWD.

My 335xi with jb+ trapped higher than a dinan stg 2 335i
I dont regret getting the xi but, I still need to get a good set of shocks to make her handle better. The car is a real beast in the snow and as the other member said, you never loose traction when flooring it. |

I had Procede V3 (Rev1), Spearco FMIC, Forged DV on my previous car. Loved the power brought in by the mods. I still miss the massive TQ of my 335xi compared to the M3.

i have to disagree. not everyone needs that tight of a suspension. Getting ride of the rft makes a good deal of difference by itself. JB3,V3 or Dinan are all great options for power, some more then others. I love my car personally. I can stick with my buddys '04 M5 from a stop light through third gear because i can just drop the clutch!
