******** BOV Kit Review
Ok so about 2 weeks ago I started looking for BOV's, not neccessarily for the blow-off effect but for a better pipe to tap for my methanol nozzle. I considered all alternatives, but could not believe how much just a single pipe, coupler and BOV could cost! I know its a BMW but I have seen the SAME exact valves with pipe kits, mandrel bent, PNP to factory for cars with fewer build numbers for less money.
So finally I found ********s BOV kit for the 335i. I thought it was great! Someone had finally just copied another successful kit out there and offered the same thing with less markup. I read good reviews and happy posts. I figured this is what I am going for. Nobody had problems with the operation of the bov or the installation. Well I received the BOV today and proceeded to install it. First thing is that it says written instructions are included with purchase of a BOV kit. There were no written instructions (apparently you are supposed to email ******?). I figured oh well I'm sure there is a DIY on e90post and sure enough, there was, so I continued my installation. Once I went to install the pipe, I had to take off the reservoir bracket to get the flange over the TB. Other than that the installation was a breeze. Once I had everything good and fitted I went over all my vacuum connections, making sure they were all snug. When I went to tug on my top vacuum nipple that actually operates the BOV the ENTIRE CONNECTOR came out. I'm talking about hose with brass nipple and all. Now don't get me wrong, I knew this was a cheap kit. However I figured a vendor would only sell mods that were as good if not better than OEM equip. However now I will be putting on my stock bpv's until I get a new GReddy bov. I was going to do this anyway but the extra 3 hours of work and money I wasn't planning on spending RIGHT NOW kinda hurt. This may sound like a bad way to start out a mod, however I haven't even gotten to my phone convo with Mr. ***** himself. I look up how much a new bov will be and I end up spending almost as much as I spent on the kit on a new bov. So I call up ******, thinking maybe I can get an answer or possibly a small refund to help quell my new BOV purchase. ***** picks up, and I immediately tell him what happened. He informs me that he has never installed this type of bov, only the earlier versions (how long was that ago?). He then wants a picture of what I am talking about, I guess since he doesn't believe me, the customer. I am polite and provide him with a picture, the one I attached below: I then call ******** a second time after he has enough time to look a the picture. Nobody answers... I call again and I get the secretary (I guess). I ask if I can talk to *****. She says she does not know where he is. I give her my number and she says she will call me back in asap. Almost an hour later I call ******** back and get *****. I inform him that I would like a relatively small $50 refund to help with the purchase of a new bov. He informs me that he has sold hundreds of these and none of them have had any problems like mine. I ask what does that have to do with helping me, and if he has sold so many then why can't he just help me out with $50 because obviously I received a faulty product. He just says that he cannot help me, even after telling him that I would stay off the forums with this if he would just give me a refund. He still said no. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received. I hope you strongly reconsider your decision to purchase this kit. Good customer service is sometimes worth the extra money you spend to get it. So here I am, letting all you know that if you plan on buying the ******** BOV kit then plan on just using the pipe if you use any of it because the bov is not worth having.

Just an FYI, there are ALOT of bad reviews regarding this vendor in the vendor section..everyone should check these before buying. Go to paypal or your credit card company and dispute the charge..you should get your money back.

Thanks for the heads up. Please put this episode in the vender feed back section as stated above. Allot of people look to this forum for dependable information and expect the venders to be on thier game. At least I do.
I hope it's not a matter of being a "paying vendor" that gets them in the door. That could be the start of the down fall for a really great web site.

They've had sooo many negative reviews. I honestly don't think i've seen 2 positive. They sell crap. All of the products have issuses. The only reason they're still vendors is people keep buying their shit. Just like you did. You saw what they sold, thought: "Oh look, a cheap replica part! This must be just as good as OEM at a fraction of the cost. I'll take 2!!" And now you're suprised? You get what you pay for. The only problem i have with vendors selling shit products is when they lie about them. Claiming, "Better than OEM Fitment" How the hell can you ever get better than OEM fitment??? Or even claiming perfect fitment. Don't lie! I hope ****** steps it up in the customer service dept. Best of luck to you getting your refund man. I'm sure you'll like the Greddy much more. |

You get what you pay for unfortunatly, this vendor should be taken off the forum. Last thing you wanna do is piss off all of the enthusists on here that would be potential customers for there product, im sure they will lose business because of a this.

I think the moderators should boot them. PERIOD. There should be NO room for bad customer service, much less FAULTY products that rip people off on the forum.

I have had no problems with mine. Maybe you got a defective bov, but you are right on that he should've done something about it. I bought mines from jbspeed and although I know they are the same product I believe jb is a better vendor and he would've stepped in. The piping alone is well worth the $180 price tag, the welds are great and the piping is very good. I was planning on buying another bov for it from the get go. Now that doesn't help with crappy customer service and that sucks dude, and I agree that what you was asking back was very reasonable and he was better off giving that to you instead of taking another hit on customer service. These mods need to start doing something about these vendors treating us like crap. There is another thread I've been reading about enkreuz wheels and how they are treating a member his wheels and its sickening, why are they still on here?

The quality control sucks. I know many people who are happy with their products and some are not. In my case I ordered a OEM front lip rep made by ******** advertised as "perfect fitment". I am sure many people have ones that fit perfect however mine does not even come close. I just decided to suck it up. I got what I paid for. I will never purchase from ******** again.

I'm not questioning the OP's sincerity, but I fail to understand why he would ask for a $50 credit, rather than just saying, "The product is defective," and then seeing what ***** did.
It sounds like the OP is trying to strong-arm ***** by threatening "give me $50 and I won't tell the forum." I don't know about you guys, but I never respond well to that type of approach. Despite the negative feedback on *****, I can't imagine for a second that he would not replace the defective unit. Think about it. What's to stop somebody from deciding they only like part of a kit, breaking the part they don't like, and then just asking for some money to buy a different one. Not saying the OP did this, but if I was a vendor, and somebody called me with this story and a demand of $50, I'd be pretty skeptical. Anyway, good luck with whatever you do. Sounds like you've had some nice offers and advice from posters here.

Another example of getting what you pay for - it doesn't mean ****** doesn't have a place in the world, they are providing a very low cost alternative to those who don't want to pay much money - stuff is half the price for a reason and they need high volume and no support to make money.
People really need to stop buying 50k cars and then cheaping out on everyting else, this kind of quality might have a place on a civic or cobalt ss, but doesn't belong on cars here. The quickest way to get rid of poor vendors is to stop making them money by buying their products and for the poor souls who get bitten, do what this post is doing and inform everyone else! Definitely chase it with your credit card company and get your money back - it will also cost the vendor and extra $20 that the credit card companies usually charge the vendor for the investigation!
