New Member, New(ish) Car

Hi

Just reg'd, new owner to the marque, having owned numerous tuned SEAT's took the plunge to diesel and the 320d seemed like the best bet.

Having co-run seatcupra.net, i know the noobs dont like to search so will try and not ask the obvious questions without searching first

piccie of my car, looking forward to help and info on here!

Hi, and welcome from another relatively new member. Nice car, what's your spec? I ran an E91 320d M Sport, you will not be disappointed.

Welcome aboard. Great looking car

I think you'll find that most of the folks on here are a little more mature and 'net savvy, but that we are equally welcoming of allcomers regardless of how much (or little) they know.

Blacklines are a MUST, plus consider H&R springs (15mm lower again).

cheers for the heads up chaps, now scouting ebay

bit worried about lowering it further, its firm now, shorter springs are going to make it even more jumpy

M-sport suspension is already pretty firm.

I'm not convinced yet about a further spring upgrade. I'm sure it will ride well, but maybe not better enough to justify the cost.

My car is stock save for the blacklines. If you haven't already done so I would buy an mp3 player to use with the aux input.

A snazzy air freshner that dangles from the rear view mirror is the best mod I've done to date....

Saul - I'd leave the suspension, it's firm without being crashy like the LCR (figured out who it is yet?), although I do find it jumpy, like you say.

A couple of thousand miles and it seems better, maybe the RFT's have softened a bit? It still does a bit of an odd "shuffle" if you hit a bump mid corner.

Turned the DTC fully off and hoofed it round a roundabout in the wet, the other day. I won't be doing that in too much of a hurry, although in the dry it just pushes the front, and I'm surprised just how much it understeers. I'd assumed with it being RWD that there wouldn't be any/much at all.

I burnt some MP3's on to CD the other day, to see what the HU would do - pleasantly surprised with the track listing , same you can't browse from the steering wheel.

Taillights for the E90/91 where the upper section (both indicator and reversing light) is a smoked white. The lower section remains standard.

hello there phil , i had the exact same shuffle off a roundabout the other day, i might be tempted to change for normal rubber when the time comes around, see if i can get a bit more compliance from them.

found a little understeer, although i find if you brake a bit later and really shift the weight onto the nose its a pointy little bugger

not brave enough to take it off in the wet yet, in the dry out of junctions its fun though (have to give it the beans mind you, the clutch is quite sharp i find and it bogs easily)

using my ipod thro the aux in, although i cant quite get the level of volume i like, might invest in a small amp

alls good so far tho, near 3000 miles on, we should plan a meet on the tops somewhere one day, take Z in his new cupra and convert him to derv

No prizes for guessing Matt's favourite colour from the above pics, or what his first mod will be

Still a bit nesh to grab hold of it by the scruff of it's neck and chuck it about, but I'll try a harder turn in, perhaps I'm driving it like a FWD.

You know you can turn the aux in gain up?

Z in a derv? Makes sense, but not until they do a top of the range SEAT one.

I had a go in a mate's MkII Octy the other day, and while it had a "familiar" feel it to and it was a bit lighter on it's feet, I have to say that revving past 4,500 all of a sudden felt a bit pointless... I think I may have been converted to the dark side.

I'l have to get the P-Box on it.

Blacklines look good, and I keep wondering what mine would look like tinted, but there's not much else worth doing to yours!

I must put some pics up...
