Deer

So I was up visiting family in Georgia for xmas and hit a deer. It sucks, but its only property damage and i think even the damn deer survived.

Its hard to tell from pictures, but it dented in front fender, A-pillar, broke drivers side mirror, bashed in driver door and then rolled down car and dented fender over rear wheel so that it had to be towed because tire was rubbing on fender.

Sorry to hear, but you seem to have the right attitude: the car can be fixed.

Glad you're okay -- good excuse to start modding

Glad to see that you're ok man. I almost hit a large sized bird (think it was a peacock) when I was up in the hills of SJ,CA a couple weeks back.

I can say this from my experience. When you're in the hills really trying to push your limits as a driver and the limits of the car and suddenly something pops up right in front of you.

Its an "oh sh)t" feeling like no other.

it's a case of "oh dear! (deer)"
looks like the deer ran into the car and not the other way around.
that's why you should have gotten a white car rather than black.

Good to hear you're okay.

Every time I see a subject like this, I cringe when I click it worried that either A) someone got hurt or B) ugly damage to a beautiful car.

Should have shot the deer and ate it for all the damage it caused.

Yup. Generally it's one of those. Glad to hear that it's B rather than A.

Hopefully the OP has good insurance coverage and will have it fixed relatively quickly

Hey since the deer survived I advise you try to track him down and go through his insurance.
Just kidding- but it looks like you have a pretty good sense of humor anyway good luck!

Yeah, it was pitch black and I was slowing down for a stop sign on a rural road. Deer are everywhere, but usually you see eyes off on side of the road and you can stop. For whatever reason, this buck ran directly in to side of my car. I briefly saw antlers in the front of the windshield before I heard the smack of the deer into the door, but I never saw it in headlights.

In a way its lucky because its definitely better to hit them in side. Hitting them in front end does way more damage to car and can result in the animal coming through the windshield. A few years ago, a man in my home town was killed when a deer was hit by an oncoming car and thrown through his window.

So, yeah, it sucks having a relatively new (6 months) car (new to me), it could have been much worse....

Oh man..thank god you're alright, it's just a material item that can be replaced. Hopefully your insurance covered it. Best of luck, my friend.

I've never hit a deer but I've been hit by a deer in the same spot as you. It was a buck and his antlers shattered on my driver's side window. It was super scary but not much damage.
