CBU cleaning
How long does it take the dealer to clean CBU? My car has been at BMW of Fairfax for 11 days now and the SA tells me that the intake was sent for cleaning. Thanks.

Sit back and be patient.
Mine took almost two months. Delays, parts back orders, etc. It was comical, I do so many miles, they had to recall my first loaner car and issue me a second loaner after about 1 month. |

Was yours done before or after the SIB? It should be much quicker if they are using the tool VS using the previous method of remove head, replace intake, etc.

Service manager called and said that they sent out the intake to a machine shop to soak and clean. Should have it back by end of this week. Also said that they have had some diesels cleaned and once they do it they have not had any come back which makes no sense as CBU occurs with mileage. Have a bare bone X1 for loaner, drives okay but guzzles like no tomorrow.

1-2 weeks for me. Had to wait for parts and procedure to be done. YMMV

Almost a month for me; then got SES light on the way home and they had it for another month replacing injectors and DDE.
This was under the service bulletin; just a few months ago. |
