Thumbs down Very Loud Ticking Noise

Hi all. I am new to this site. I have a 08 328i that has the same loud metallic ticking noise that my 06 had(declared a lemon). There is no specific time it occurs. On the 06, the dealer tried to tell me it was air in the lines, that I had bad driving patterns and that I didn't drive the car enough. Anyone else have this type of issue. I have several friends with the same car and they have never heard the noise I'm referring to

Think you are in the wrong forum here - this is for N54 / forced induction topics.

If you have a 335i, then this sounds like it could be wastegate issue, but not if you have a 328i.

You need a new cylinder head. Take it to your dealer.

your dealer might give you lots of dumb excuses and take forever to fix it. but just say
"there is no other way to fix this unless you change my god damn cylinder head!"

There is a procedure to bleed the valve lifters.

Ticking or Rattling noise from Engine https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/x/BgCG

If it fails to work the cylinder head may need to be replaced.

I hear a slight ticking noise but only in the winter during a cold start in the winter. Once the the car warms up the noise goes away.

I had the same problem with my 2008 328. I had the engine bleed performed. Tick came back three days later. I got approved for a new cylinder head- problem solved. No ticking anymore. They told me it happens with 2006-2009 engines, but was fixed with a redesign in 2009 to the cylinder head. The repair came in just under $7k. Thank you warranty.
