Question E90 335i - A/T Transmission Fluid

My 2008 335i just roll past 50k miles...

When do we change transmission fluid? Is it part of the maintenance from BMW? I have maintenance plan until 6yr/100k... i am not sure bmw will replace it... i heard before ours is lifetime fill...

Did you change yours yet? when/how many miles?

thanks

BMW calls it lifetime, and won't replace it. Most people reccomend changing it every 40-50k

Drain and fill plus new pan/filter next week at 52k miles for $450. at a ZF tranny shop. Assess how long you're going to keep the car. If you're not going to keep it much past 100k, why bother? And no, BMW won't change it prior to 100k.

Mike Miller recommends 60k for all BMW automatics.

Could you post the name of the shop? I need to get mine done soon, too -- approaching 60K. I think my regular indy BMW shop is quite a bit more than that (never mind what the stealer gets!). PM me if you prefer not to post in the forum.

Thanks!

I have a 2006 E90 with 95,XXX and I just bought the parts to do it. I would recommend to wait until 90k+ - that is, if you want to keep the car after that mark, otherwise, why bother?

I think that BMW will take care of that if your transmission oil is leaking, and that is very common among E90's. Not sure if they will change the oil just because you feel like asking them to, after all, they recommend this service at the 100k mark.

just brought mine to the dealership for my last scheduled maintenance under the extended warranty with 99980 miles. I asked the SA about it and even mentioned that the car shifts pretty rough but they still didn't change it... all I got was new oil, filter, air filter and new spark plugs and windshield washer top up. not even cabin filter. SA said i might need to clean the ac which is out of pocket...
