I had a good think and realised if I don't do it now I never will, got offered a great deal which also helped sway me and ofcourse the test drive sealed the deal, just feels like a totally different car to my current e92, can't wait to hear that V8 on song!!
I say go for the 997....

Finally picked the car up tonight after some delays, drove home sensibly (unfortunately) due to rush hour traffic and I know it shouldn't matter a toss but got 32mpg soon dropped when I got off the M-way
Loving it so far, and can't wait 'til the weekend for a proper drive in it, feels great and can't get the grin off my face! Will update in a week or two when I get a better feel of the car and get to know it, and also some better pics!

Feels really nice compared to my last E92, ride is a lot better but i'd imagine that's partly down to EDC on comfort and non runflats! Steering feels nicer too, and the general feel of the car, I dont know wether it's just because it's new to me or if it actually does feel better, loving it though! Cold start sounds lovely as well as throtle blips on downshift's!

Downshifts are amazing ! Has it sunk in yet owning an M? you are right the car feels a lot more comfortable then a regular e92 but i did have run flats on the last car too so that could be it. Any mods planned ? You get a chance to put ur foot down on a straight yet ?!

No not yet, I think it will take a day or two lol. I've got black perf grills to fit and my white LED angel eye bulbs, other than that no....well nothing yet. I'd like an exhaust but they're expensive for the good ones! A friend offered to make me one as he does that kind of thing, but would be a gamble how it would sound really, but said he'd do it for cost which wasn't a lot so might be worth a shot.
You done a thread with pics of yours yet?

Will keep an eye on the forums and ebay for one, supersprint sounds not bad and is reasonably priced. Akropovic/Meisterschaft sound good but £££££.
Ah cool, yea get some pics up at least! I got the grills from bmw themselfs for my old car (pre LCI), and as the M3 didn't recieve a facelifted front end, they will fit! bonus. Thanks mate, it's got me drooling at least!

Yes you could make a 335i faster in a straight line but it's really not close when it comes to driving performance and agility. The M3 is something special. |
