OEM 2011 E92 Msport AWD Xdrive suspension
Stock OEM 2011 BMW suspension. Comes with front and rear springs, struts, and top and lower hat. The front shocks may have some play but the rears are good. Not sure what other models the shocks fit but the springs fits all models and are sports springs. May fit e90 sedan but came out of e92 coupe See picture |

FYI, is these came out of a stock xDrive the springs are not sport springs. The xDrives did not come with sport suspensions.
GLWS!!

^^ well. I heard conflicting information on whether the xdrive had sport springs or not. So I bought sports springs from an other member on here and they were identical. Same numbers of coils and same height. I wasted my money and time going to buy the springs and paying for it.

The sports springs from the e92 are the same springs as the xdrive springs. This will not lower your car. It will only replace your springs if you have after market and want to go back to stock.

There are numbers printed on the springs. The front will have a little white tag that has an "I" and a number. The rears will have a "C" number printed onto the coils themselves. The sport springs are all "D" numbers. It sounds like the "sport" springs you bought off that member were not actual sport springs. Sorry.

It is also true that XI springs have same # of coils, dead length, etc. What makes them stiffer than non XI springs is they have thicker wire. Outisde of the type of steel used, which is nearly always the same, things like ride height and spring rate are determined by only 4 factors, # coils, coil diameter, wire diameter, and dead length. Spring rate goes like 4th power of wire diameter so a little difference has a big effect. Can't remember exactly but I believe the numbering convention is I6 etc are XI, C6 etc are non sport non XI, and D6 etc are sport (all e92 non XI are sport, only e90 non XI has a sport suspension option). Everything "fits" across platforms in the sense that you can install any spring on any chassis. You will get a big drop if you install sport springs on XI, mainly just because they are softer. There is a great thread in the XI section called "I springs on an XI", worth reading. edit: the sport PACKAGE on XI does include nice stuff, seats, steering wheel, some trim, paddle shifters on AT, wheels (in some cases). Just no suspension, there is only one XI suspension and it is unique to XI in terms of spring rates. Last edited by ajsalida; 07-26-2014 at 07:19 AM.. |
