Does The Word Bimmer Bother You?

I just read a thread and one person kept saying bimmer. I can't stand that word for some reason. When somebody says it to me about my car I say it's a BMW. Anybody else annoyed by the use of this word?

I absoultely hate it, it sounds so weird. I have always used "BMW", that way I'm able to emphasis every letter and its coolness haha.

I always write out Bimmer but say "Beemer". I don't really care if it's incorrect, it just sounds better IMO. If im with other enthusiasts i'll say bimmer so I don't look dumb.

I think it's still pronounced "Beemer" even when spelled Bimmer, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think anyone's ever said "bimmer" aloud to me. That would sound odd.

To me it's like saying "Chevy" instead of Chevrolet. I do get looked at by some coworkers as if I were pretentious when I use it though.

"Beemer" refers to BMW's motorbikes. "Bimmer" is in reference to the cars. Don't ask me why this is.

There used to be an English-brand motorcycle "BSA", which came to be known as "Beezers"...
