a/c compressor
I noticed my a/c clutch is still engaged when my a/c is off. Meaning a/c off and the compressor hub is still spinning with the pulley. Anyone else notice this or just my clutch shit the bed?

Typically, there is a clutch cycling switch (not sure what BMW calls it). However, it sounds like yours is stuck. Should be easy to find in RealOEM.

#11 below in the attached. This will require the A/C to be evacuated and refilled.
Could also be a relay (easy to check) or the on off switch. Does the compressor cycle off and on while operating? or does it never disengage? 335dAC.pdf |

If I'm not mistaken, in the E90 there is no clutch on the A/C compressor, it's designed to run all the time. It has variable output and that is how it regulates cooling amount. When A/C is not needed output is set to near zero. This also keeps the compressor oil circulated in the system keeping seals happy.

If you have the S1CBA Package "CO2 Package", then you have a clutchless compressor. Otherwise, you have a compressor with a magnetic clutch. However, I don't know exactly what this package is...and don't even know which compressor I have. I'll try to confirm what I have. |
