Hello from Portugal, i have just installed myself the Garmim 3790T bought from BMW GERMANY and mounted it on my E82 123D 09", i have gone to a BMW Dealer here in Portugal in order to code it (i thinks it needs the NAVP option installed in order for the sound to come out from the car speakers but they said they have never done that and that they have connect it to the computer and find no way to do that....i thing they just donīt know what they are doing... Can anyone give me some light about this? Many thanks!!!

Hi! I'm a newbie here from Japan! I learned how to install NCS Expert and were able to code some on my E90. Thank you everyone!
Now, I have an question. where can I get the latest NCS expert(maybe set of INPA and EDIBAS) I have the updated DATEN files for E89, but can't figure out how to apply those files. Thank you for your help! |

- Make sure that the Pin 8 debacle doesn't apply to you or that you have the right cable if it does. This has been discussed multiple times recently in this thread. - Try updating your drivers (search a few posts back for the link) and then set your Latency to 1. If you still see the FIFO buffer option you're not using the latest ones. Also make sure your cable is set to COM1. - Make sure you're on a 32-bit version of Windows. 64-bit does not work. - Make sure you're in Ignition On mode, not radio readiness or engine on. If you have Comfort Access, this means pushing the Start button twice. If you don't, it means keyfob in the slot and pushing the Start button once. - Make sure you have sufficiently new daten files. V41 is the current revision, I believe, though if you're coding an 08 335i as in your sig, V39 should be fine. - Make sure you first connect the cable to the car, then to your laptop, then switch the car to ignition, then open INPA. I'm not sure whether that exact sequence matters but I've always used it successfully.

I don't see fifo option in INPA whenever i do that part of the DIY guide but i heard some people just skipped INPA and are fine so I skip that step as well. My car is an 08 335i coupe build date is 10/07 or 11/07. I forgot, but I'm not too sure about the Pin 8 thing... i'm using my uncle's cable and software that he successfully uses on his 2005 545i... i'll keep searching about the Pin 8 thing but any specific posts in this thread you can link me too would be very much helpful! thank you. |

The FIFO buffers option is in the Advanced settings for the cable in Device Manager. Follow the instructions in the DIY for that, but like I said, if you're using the right drivers, the screen you have there won't match the screenshot. Rather than having a FIFO buffers setting you should have (among other things) a Latency setting which you'll need to set to 1.

hmm yeah his e60 works fine with everything (cable/software), but when we try it on mine, the circles dont turn black. and yeah I'm pretty sure I have an updated driver because I dont have the "Fifo settings option" but I did set the latency to 1 and still got the same error... btw, will NCS expert not work either if i I don't restart my computer after the obdscan? that part of the DIY is kinda confusing... just a thought, but we didnt restart the computer and it still worked for my uncle's e60... just trying to list possibilities... |

If you have Vista 64-bit you either need to get a Windows XP machine or a virtual machine running through software that supports USB device redirection. Serial port remapping may also work but I haven't tried that approach. I personally use Windows Virtual PC (believe it requires Windows 7) but I've heard VMware does the job as well.

I'm not sure -- the seller I linked to and used myself has participated in this thread a while back and hasn't had any quality issues that some people have found with other sellers.

Just completed a blank.man file in all the three modules to reset them to factory and no change. Still shows the same symbol in the dash,

It looks like the service intervals may be been reset/zero'd out during coding. I think you can use Tool32 to restore them back to what they were (if you wrote down the values). Or you may be able just to reset them and they'll be reset like the service was just performed.
