Radar Detectors illegal in MD?

One of my friends and I were talking about Radar Detectors(I am buying a 9500ix soon) and he said that they are illegal in the state of MD. I though they were only illegal in VA and DC around these parts. Does anyone know the truth?

thats why you only see signs saying radar detectors are illegal when leaving MD and going into DC/VA
