The car has been really jerky too and snappy with acceleration. I dont have a boost gauge either. Do you guys think all sstt's are the same or maybe some units are stronger than others maybe?
Hhhmmm...did they do any software updates on the car while it was there? Did they disconnect the battery?

not to my knowledge. They might have disconnected the battery. The oil cooler retrofit was a big job.

I have heard of vehicles reacting differently to various tunes due to engine variances from the factory, ie: one 335 might react better to a procede vs a jb or sstt (vice versa).

Be happy that you BMW loves the SSTT and keep us posted!

I am using shell 93 with stock air filter. any feedback will be appreciated. maybe this is the opposite end of adaptation and it will become less powerful after it adapts. I know this sounds far fetched but my butt dyno doeasnt lie...atleast not this much.
No it shouldn't and I can guarantee it doesn't. But if you are having a good butt dyno day just enjoy it. All the TT's are the same. I actually had a couple different ones and the quality control is solid and they all give the same amout of resistance to the T-Map. Sorry, but it's in your head.

I cant speak for BMW, but I know with our Fords (and most domestic companies) when we put them through rolls (dyno roll that tests and calibrates a bunch of stuff like hp/torque, a/f ratios etc...), we are allowed a corporate set variance such as +/- a given %.

So if a vehicle is marketed at 300hp, it can be sold if it dynos at 290 or 310. But if it hits 289 or 311 the engineers will look into why this is happening and if an appropriate containment action should be issued.

Thats awesome if you car reacts well to the SSTT. Stick with it. (Im jealous! )

1st turbo tuner was great then I got the jb2h and it was noticeably more powerful. This sstt feels faster to me than the jb2h did.Ive never felt this car pull like it does with this sstt.

Butt Dynos aren't worth the paper they're wiped with. Only a before and after dyno will show how much power you are making but as Split Second will tell you, all the SSTT are EXACTLY the same so again, it is in your head. My car pulls like a friggin' beast every day but cools days are noticibly snappier on the throttle response. I had SSTT before and can assure you JB2H is significantly faster.

Unplug the battery for 1 hour to force the ECU to relearn the tune. If your SSTT keeps that fast you are golden . Otherwise as well by getting correct settings.

I have too. Right now this sstt feels quicker. two different opinions. the jb2 felt faster than the first sstt but not this one. maybe its the power delivery but thats how I feel.

You seem a little sensitive, how am I hating? I had the SSTT and am a fan of it, great added power, super easy install, great customer service from Jeff. But as I already said Split Second is a very professional company and EVERY TURBO TUNER IS THE SAME. This is a mark of there excellent quality control. And there are a lot of folks on the forum who have had SSTT and JB2H or JBX and it is simply a fact that the JB2H is a faster tune, sorry if that offends you somehow

Every turbo tuner may be the same but i can guarentee you that every N54 engine outta that factory is slightly different. It may be sooo minimal, but different none the less.

I apologize then. I thought you were out bashing other tunes again.
I'm honestly sorry...and I din't make that thread just for you, I really am interested in seeing why people HATE dinan.
I think I may be confusing you with another poster with gator in his screenname. Sorry again

Peace

the jb2h is a faster tune than the sstt's which was why I switched but I swear this ones psychotic or something. I know your not a hater of either one of these tunes. we've spoken before and I know you to be an unbiased good guy I know my car very well and somethings strange about this sstt. I guess I'll just enjoy it.

I got the oil cooler retrofit too But actually it does hurt since it adds the weight of all the parts

But anyway, it's all good, your car is performing very well so just enjoy it. I honestly look forward to every single time I drive this car. I am really shocked how great of a car this is, and how much better raising the boost a little makes it. We are all lucky to have this car, we could have ended up in an IS350's or G37's if BMW hadn't come out with the n54 just in time.
