could not lock fob in trunk today

I was in a hurry and tossed everything into the trunk, including the fob. When I went to shut the trunk, it would not shut, and the car blinked 3X. Never had that happen in nearly 6 years. I thought even though the CA works only 70% of the time, that was some smart design.

I do this fairly often when leaving the gym in the morning. Half asleep still, I toss my gym bag in the trunk and close it, but that damn thing won't latch. I try a few more times before it hits. I then look around, hope nobody is watching, grab my keys from the front pocket of my bag and slouch away to the driver's door.

Speaking of which...

Is it "normal" that sometimes the car won't open the trunk just by the trunk handle? Most of the time it works just fine, but every so often I'll hear the clicking down behind the passenger side tail light for a few seconds and then it quits Have to try it two or three times before it opens. Sounds like a small solenoid triggering, but nothing else happens. Other times it works fine; slight click then hear the latch release in the trunk lid, and it pops open.

This is a 2010 E93 if it matters. (yes, I pay attention to trying to have the fob in the pocket closest to the car and not blocked by my body)

Yep, same occasional quirk here. I just accept my car for what it is, with all its creaks, rattles, and flaws

yeah opening trunk has lag for me as well, sometimes
it gets more annoying when you are holding heavy groceries on your left hand and you put your right hand underneath the trunk waiting like for it to be open but it won't budge,

Thanks. I'm due to take it in for the last oil change under the 4/50 warranty&maintenance and wasn't sure if it was normal quirkiness or something to make an issue out of...
