2007+ N52 engine common leaks?
My warranty will be over in 6 weeks or so. I know about the 2006 head leaks (gaskets and broken bolts) but this is a 2007.
I have to add 1 litre of oil every 3000 miles. Last one at 2500 miles. I wonder if there is a leak or if it just consumes oil Of course, it is not that much oil, well within specs. Problem is that it is not an easy engine to inspect with all covers over and under it. Would it be a good idea to ask the dealer to remove the covers and inspect the engine? Kind of inspection before the warranty is over. Should I expect to pay about 1 hour? Good idea? |

Oil pan gasket, rear main seal, valvetronic motor seal, oil fluted housing gasket all leak on my car. It's very slow though. I lose 1L every 6500miles and I have 150k miles. Check your tail pipes and make sure they're not completely covered in soot. You can also clean the inside of the tips and see how long it takes to turn black again. This will show you if you're burning it or leaking it.

This is good to know guys. My warranty is expiring this month on my 07 328i. I guess if I just maintain in religiously and find an indy shop that can handle everything I should be in good shape. Have a lot of you NA owners purchased warranties?

no oil filter housing takes around 2 hours, dealer chargers $30+ for it and its basically a big o-ring.
check your floater in your expansion tank, that sht breaks easily (failed design if you as me) |

Also the mechatronic sealing sleeve is a common failure on ATs. Not sure which one though...ZF or GM. |
