My US spec E90 was built in Leipzig... any others?

So I get my VIN the other day and it's being built in V (Leipzig, Germany). I was under the impression that just Euro spec E90's were built there and that US Spec E90's were built in Rosslyn (sp?), Reagansburg or Munich.

So do you think being built in Leipzig is a good thing? From what a hear it's a very modern, very automated plant which could be a good thing.... seems like Robots would be much more precise and make less mistakes than humans. Anybody have any opinions on this? I was pretty much expecting my car to come from Munich, so I was kinda surprised to see the "V" in the VIN.

Well you're one of the few! Congrats! Your are correct Leipzig is the newest plant in BMW's portfolio. According the e90Fleet, they are on track to snatch the internal quality audit awards from Rosslyn, South Africa.

You are correct, US spec E90s are mostly built in Munich and Regensburg. Rosslyn and Leipzig are the minorities. If you do a search there is an active poll to see plant of origin.

Yeah, I saw that poll.... think it was like only 4% Leipzig.... most of those seemed to be Euro spec though. I kinda like the idea of being built there, but if I'm one of the only ones on the forum that makes me a little nervous.

Ok, my VIN has a "V" in it too.. it's the fourth letter in the VIN.. does that mean it was also built in Leipzig, Germany? Mine was ordered 12/11 production 12/12 - 12/22.

No, that V is part of the model designation (VB73 = e90 335). The plant code is the 11th char in the VIN.

What plant would mine be built in if it said "P"?? I looked at the chart and it doesnt say anything about it.

P is Regensburg. This chart is old I think... it's missing a few codes.

Mine has a V in the 11th digit so I guess I'm being built at the "new" factory. Ordered 12/7, expecting delivery ~2/1. I'm on the AIDA which is scheduled into NY on 1/25.
