N55 X35i DCT Mapping/Plug and Play

Hi guys,

After a bit of advice really (done a bit of a search, but wanted some more info), will be getting myself a 135i in the next couple of months and will be opting for a N55 engine as I want the DCT box.
Now having mapped all my turbo charged cars, I will be doing the same with this one and just wanted your thoughts on what gains are available with the new engine and how reliable they are with the DCT box.
Also, after scouring 1Addicts forums, the JB units seem massively popular over the pond, but not so much here. Is there any reason for this?
What are my best options do you think, mapping or plug and play?
I know this is a 3 series forum, but BabyBMW forums aren't really full of modded 135s and 1 Addicts is more American based. So wanted your opinions guys if possible?

Thanks is advance..

If mapping is availible, id go that route. If not then skip the jb3 and get the procede.

Cheers for the replies guys..
How anal are most BMW dealerships with mapping? Are they strict and invalidate warranties if found, or are some fairly laid back?
Has anyone has software done on the N55 engine yet with the likes of Evolve, DMS, P-Torque etc? Especially with DCT...

The n55 cant be pushed as far as the n54, your looking at around 370 with just a tune i'd say.

Still losing the extra say 20-30bhp in return for twin clutch setup is something i could live with.

It's already being pushed... Should break 400whp on pump very soon.

To be honest, I would probably stick with just a remap anyway. Although saying that, the cat-less DP's sound tempting... lol

Be careful how much extra power your new map gives it, the DCT isn't good at taking big torque

i would imagine bmw would void your warrenty if you have the map and they find it which could happen with the jb as they are physical units. They can only void the warrenty if it's on parts that could be effected by the map, so i dont think electrical issues etc would be effected for example.

The JB4 is out now which has better integration, not sure if that supports n55 tho.

Have there been any casualties yet mate, or is it just a rumour like what was said about the VW DSG box not being able to cope with more than 300lb/ft?

I've think E92Fan knows of an early failure, he might be along one day, when he's finished doing the washing up.

If you take the E92 335is in the States, it has a torque boost button which gives about 370lb/ft for a few seconds, which might explain things.

We have been mapping this engine for a couple of months now.

Normal price is £900.00, and we need the car for 1 day. Power is increased by 48 - 55hp.

We are however looking into some discounts for forum members.

£900??? Spiders!!! Bit dearer than the VAG cars to map then? Have heard good things about your software though mate

Does anyone know if th JB4 is available for the N55 DCT yet? Seem like they are getting some good results and some nice features with it too..

Anyway, finally got my car ordered on Friday and shall be with me in 10 weeks (touch wood). Was a real budget stretcher, so not massive spec, but went with:-
Alpine White N55 135i M Sport
DCT Box
Xenons
Phone Prep
and USB

Will also be getting the black kidney grills and carbon spoiler fitted ready for delivery and will be getting the wheels done black pronto.
Looking forward to it to say the least..

Hi

Its a bench flash, these ECU's are far to complicated for OBD tuning

Your car sounds nice!

Yes, due to the labour time involved getting the ECU out, and the complicated nature of the ECU we have to cover a days labour on the N55 remap.

I will be looking into offering discounts for members though.
