What is considered cheap? I can't figure out if Apex fits in that category or if they are just "inexpensive".

I've always liked 197's for an 18" OEM wheel. I believe they are made by BBS. You could score a used set for like 600.

Cheap wheels are usually replicas that can be bent with a soft mallet. I would think Apex are more simple & inexpensive than cheap.

I do like those - that is why I am now leaning towards the Apex.

I agree with your definition of cheap - I am trying to stay away from gravity cast wheels.

I'm in the same boat with you.
In my view, don't get any rep/cheap wheels (brands you never heard of). You never know what the quality is.

Apex wheels are track proven by many other racers or forum members.
Team Dynamics are great as well. Low-cost, light-weight, track-ready. You can even customize offset.

If you have budget, go with Volk, Advan, BBS, HRE, ADV.1 etc.

Thanks, I have never heard of Team Dynamics and can't figure out any fitments from their site (it is awful).

BBS is really the only one you listed that has a design I like, but they are just more than I am willing to spend!

Who knows? Hopefully Sean@PYSpeed.com or VMRWheels can shed some light on their construction.

For cheap wheels, I'd go with the Arc's for sure. They're strong, light, and as cheap as they come.

$450 delivered for these MSR rims, saved enough to get a good quality set of tires. Yes I'm on a budget, but I've only spent $16k on the entire car!

Apex ARC-8!! Not too aggressive and you will save at least 40lbs. (I estimate 50 lbs.) total of un-sprung weight over your stock setup all depending on sizes you get, which equates to more power to the wheels and more mpg, though both may be negligent according to your driving style and needs. The wheels are definitely stronger and seem to meet your overall criteria. Pair them with some Hankook EVOs or some continentals and you have yourself a great street DD setup.

Either the EC-7 or ARC-8 fits with what you are looking for. The ARC-8 is slightly lighter while the EC-7 provides more brake clearance and is stronger. Give us a call for any questions regarding fitment.

ARC-8

EC-7

Are those two sets of wheels the same color? The ARC-8 look great, the EC-7 look a bit lifeless.

The ARC-8 is in Hyper Black and usually looks a bit darker but the sun is shining directly on them. The EC-7 is in Race Silver, a slightly less bright shade of the silver that is normally offered on the ARC-8, Hyper Silver.

Damn...I'm not really digging the race silver, anthracite, or satin black for my space gray car.

Another options would be these Avant Garde...they are pretty classy looking and not too heavy:
