Installing C/O's - RMP Motors or BIMMERSPORT (w/ pics)

Hey guys,

So basically I'm gonna be getting some coilovers in the next week or so and I was wondering where I should get them installed from.

Initially my main issue was how much they'd charge, 'cause I really didn't feel like forking out $600-$700 more after already spending so much on the C/O's and sway bars. I've contacted both shops already and they seem to be in the same range as far as price goes.

Distance wise they are both about the same traveling time, and I love driving so that's not a big deal either. lol

Now my new deciding factor is any first hand experience you guys may have had with both companies.

I like Bimmersports website ALOT better, but you know what they say; you can't judge a book by it's cover.

I know of another member that went to Bimmersport and got the same stuff done and didin't mind the work they did, they just took a long ass time. lol

So please guys, if you have any info that might be able to help me make a decision, please share!

- Rohit

UPDATE!

I decided on a palce and went to Bimmersport. They had a few solid guys out working on about half a dozen bimmers or so, ranging from the old school 3 series from the early 90's to a sick M coupe from the last gen. I even saw a rare 8 series parked outside!

Charlie and his team did a hell of a job on the isntall. He knew what he was doing, and had some real good background info on the E9X's. We were talking about mods out there for the 335i and he was giving me his opinion on them based on what he's seen and what other customers had told him. I could definitely see myself going there for my regular mod work.

I recommend anyone who's looking for a compitent shop, at a fair price with friendly service, to at least check them out and see for yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Now onto the pics!

I think it's a toss up between the two. Do any of these places do the post-drop alignment?

Believe it or not, RMP is actually closer to me than BS is. lol

I'm not too worried about the alignment right away.

I think I rather wait a week or and let the C/O's settle before I get an alignment done.

After reading this, I found out RMP is closer to me as well.

I may go either this week or next week. I am doing the C/O; SSK and CDV delete.

$600 to install C/O, sway bar front and rear plus alignment? If so thats not a bad deal the rear sway is a bitch to install.

RMP FTW. if they're closer to you, might as well go with them.
They certainly have the best prices in town.
It's worth the trip, trust me.
They just installed my pss10s last week.

Do you know whether they have done (installed) any C/O on the E92 or E90 before? I could not find any pictures in their website.

I have no problem using RMP but at least I want to know!

Yes, their price is good.

BTW, where could you go in that area while they were working on your car? It does not seem any shopping malls around that area.

I'm gonna get my coilovers installed at Bimmersport in early May. Got a decent quote and it's close to my office.

Hey, so ballpark what kinda $$$ are we looking at to install coilovers? I assume the cost includes corner-balancing?

Dang, even a low cost option like the H&R coilover is going to push the cost of a whole new suspension to $2K once install is factored in...

Man this is quite a toss up.

I'm hearing yes's and no's about both sides.

How do you guys feel about EU Autowerks? They're located out in Woodbridge which is by far the closest one from me.

EU Autoworks is run by Courtney Walsh, a really nice guy,he knows his stuff and backs it up by tracking his own Porsche. I know they do an awful lot of work on Porsche but get involved in any high end European car, when I went and took a look they had a mental M3 project on the go, they might be worth a try, they're really close.

C'mon, someone tell me ballpark cost to install coilovers. $600 sounds expensive. I was thinking $300 to $400?

Hey Nathan, my bad man! I got quoted about $500 from either one of those shops, but I'm getting some sway bars installed too. I'm sure you could get it done for about $400, maybe even closer to $300 if you talk to them and push for some kind ofa cash deal.

Once I figure out where I'm going, I'll let you know how it went. Maybe you can use me as your referral and get a discount that way?

Hope that helps!

Cool R.

Hey, which C/O did you end up getting? Shipped to Toronto? What was the damage for shipping/duties/taxes? Would love to get H&R coils, but it'll be another $300 just to get them to the Great White North methinks...

Exactly what he said. I suggest you call them first, maybe you get a price cheaper than us! If you do, don't forget to tell us so that we can negotiate the price again.
