MY girlfriend (which some of you have met, Meghann) was dead set on a Manual and she is really into hatchbacks/3 door cars. We have been looking for over a year for the perfect buy, mostly at 350Z's, Impreza Sti's, Exo X's, a few Mini's, but nothing that had good mileage, loaded and at a very good price. Then low and behold at Okemos Auto Collection (Local BMW/Mercedes/Porsche Dealer, the place I bought my car) they had this beauty on the lot.

Some retired guy traded it in for a new 1 series, and while we were out at the dealership for the 5 series GT test drive event we took the Mini out for a spin. She fell in love with the car. So started the Mini researching, I spent the entire weekend learning about Mini's, searching for used Mini's, pricing new Mini's, looking at what mods were available for Mini's... you get the idea. After many hours spent on the internet, we came to the conclusion that this was a deal we shouldn't pass up.

When we went back to talk to our SA (Caleb) about the car, he basically sealed the deal on the spot. Full KBB value for both of the cars she was trading in, $2k off the sticker price, extended warranty coverage to 55k miles or 2015, and new, free floor mats! We ended up getting for $5k+ under KBB value. Im telling you, great people, and they work hard out there at Okemos Auto Collection to keep you coming back!

To illustrate this statement: As I said, Meghann had 2 cars to trade in. One was a hyundai tiburon with aftermarket fiberglass bumpers, CF hood, exc. While we were driving that out to the dealership to trade it in, a guy pulls out of a parking lot right into her car. Ripped the front bumper of it clean off, no air bags deployed, and luckily no one was hurt. The car was still drivable, and we had all of the stock parts in the back of the car.

So after dealing with that, we continued out to the dealership. Pulled up with the car an hour later than we said we would be there, front end missing, turn signals dangling, her aftermarket bumper in pieces in my back seat. And with a smile they say, "that its fine. Go get the other car and we will be ready to go when you get back!" Honestly we had no idea what to expect from this situation. It is obviously not one either of us had ever been in before. We returned with the other trade in, filled out the paper work and she drove off in her hot practically new little MCS!!

It is pretty bad ass, talk about bang for your buck. Thing gets 39.7 mpg average CITY, with the AC cranked and sport button pushed. Haven't taken any long highway trips with it yet though. Some of the smaller details are what really makes this car feel special. Like customizable "mood lights", where my 330 has only orange, the mini can be set to basically any color. You can customize the digital displays to show whatever you want, we set it to digital speedometer, miles to empty and temp in the tachometer and mpg info on the radio. With the sports suspension, run flats and the tiny little springs on this car, the ride is a bit rough, but that is what makes this thing so fun.

haha yeah, that is pretty nice. You get used to looking at the center for the spedo yet? My dad had an 03 cooper S (supercharged version) and it was a rocket but I never got past that crap. He didn't either which is why a week later her took the car back and swapped out with one that had the sport pack and little spedo/tach on top of the wheel.

You don't even need to look at the center speedo, it is basically there for decoration. See in the pic below, in the top display on the tachometer it says "0 mph". It has a digital speedometer in the tachometer.

Yes it is an amazingly fun little car. Too bad Meghann has only let me drive it once, on the first test drive >.< lol

Nice ride! You are probably the closest person (location wise) to me that I've seen on here. My permanent address is in Ann Arbor, but I do go to school at MSU (here for the summer in fact). Hope to see you around. I have a TiAg E90 as well, 328 stock for now. I'll keep an eye out for your ride and your GF's. Not too many Minis here.

interesting. I did not know that. I think that speedo is exactly why I crossed it off my list for commuter duty. Is there a mod around to physically make it disappear, since it's essentially redundant now anyway? It would be nice to put something useful there... or nothing at all...
