Lol from what I've seen the majority of BMW dealerships as far as service goes sucks!!! IMO Sterling and Tischer are probably the best 2 for service in the area.

What hasn't happened
You take vehichle in for one thing and you get a mystery issue which requires more work

The latest episode
Car wouldnt start one morning (the starter was replaced in June 2011). Towed to Passport where they replaced starter but then it still wouldnt start on first attempt as you have to try 4-10 times. A PUMA request was sent out from Passport and they stated that the CAS Unit would need to be replaced, which wasnt under warranty and costs 880. So i authorize that and a week later get service ticket stating problem still exists and that they need to run more test at another 800, and that major electrical issues persist and a ground wire on motor is burnt and evidence of tampering in DME Junction box(electrical components were replaces in APril by them along with new fuses cause the battery blew up/nuked but ALL of this was suposedly fixed at a tune of 2500). So after VM left by my service rep at 6:00 saying he was leaving but my bill is 1600 (800 is for car rental fees!!!!)

i assume your car is out of warranty?

they do not give free loaner cars anymore? if not, did they tell you that you had to pay for that?

that's a dealership decision; quite a few of the dealers around here don't offer loaners of any kind

My cooling fan was running on high, constantly. I took it to Passport and they told me because it was hot outside. After another week of the fan running on high, I brought it back and insisted they look at it. They said they would, but they'd have to keep it all day and I can't have a loaner because I didn't buy from Passport. And he insisted it was running because it was hot outside. I drove directly to BMW of Alexandria, got a loaner, and a they replaced my thermostat. Took about 2 hours from drop-off to pick-up.

Wow. that... blows...

I'd definitely write to BMW and tell them what's up. I doubt it'll do much good but at least you can go on record saying that their inability to fix the problem the first time has caused you to spend exceedingly more money on the car.

VOB gives 2 days free... 2 days != $800... Insurance claim it?

Passport is undeniably the worst dealership out there. The SA's flat out lie and the techs do a mediocre (at best) job.

VOB is a dealership to watch. I suspect that their repair facility will improve dramatically in the near future - once Euro Motorcars completes the takeover.

Whoa, sorry you had issues. This story could be about any dealership though, I had bad experiences at Sterling and Alexandria, now I only go to passport and they always do a good job and always give me a loaner - so YMMV.
