Interior upgrade : DCT Shifter installed
Was tired of my old plastic shifter. swapped it out for the DCT Retrofit (Thx to motivemods) Here are the before and after pics!
Tried to get the shifter as low as posible, i've cut the stalk 1,25 inch (3,2mm) and I've drilled the inside of the shifter to get rid of some plastic pins to gain another 8mm. After drilling away the pins I took 8mm of the plastic base of the shifter to make it drop more, without having to cut more of the stalk. This is the result before & after Bonus :P :

Looks good, this is wired to illuminate too? I tried wiring my m5 shift knob last weekend and couldn't find the 12v under the trim. I suspect it's cause I don't have the smokers package like you but maybe I was looking for it in the wrong place. I'd appreciate it if you can help me.

Been debating on doing this for a while, can you still see the light when the car is in drive? Just curious as to how out of place it looks when In drive, I know it looks great in park.

That shifter always looked out of place to me in the E9X, imo it's a waste of money and looks uglier than the stock automatic shifter.
But if you like it then |

Beautiful car (I like the color ). The standard shift gate in automatic E9x's looks so dated; the DCT shifter is a very welcome upgrade.
The oyster interior w/ aluminum is gorgeous!

Isn't that just the regular modern BMW automatic selector? I was always under the impression the DCT selector looked like this:

I kind of agree with this. It looks sort of off compared to OEM. But I thought about doing this. Glad the OPer likes the mod.

Looks really nice! I like how you also changed the trimming around it.
