Good all season tires for us?

Us, New England-ers, have the worst roads in the country. Plus we have some pretty hardcore snow storms.

What would you guys consider to be one of the best all season tires that we can purchase with out costing an arm and a leg?

IMO: I wouldn't go AS (esp. with your snow storms) I would go full blown winter wheels/tires (Blizzaks/Ice Pike)

All seasons are a joke here, especially if you don't have AWD.

I just got some of the highly recommended Dunlop Wintersports. If those don't make it nothing will.

Agreed. And AWD won’t help you stop or turn so no matter what snows are going to be a safer option this winter. Also keep in mind that the compound on snows is better in cold dry conditions as well, so they will give you better traction throughout the cold months, not just when there’s measurable snow on the ground. There are some nice high performance winter tire options that find a balance between dry road performance and snow/ice grip. All seasons are really just half as good in any season. One final thought: With two sets they will last twice as long, so you can think of it as purchasing your next set of tires a little ahead of schedule.

Same old debate but in my real life experience, my stock Continental ContiProContact RFTs were fantastic in the snow last year. I have mentioned this before, but I drove home in the Post Xmas Blizzard last year from Rochester, NY to MA and I never felt unsafe. I was passing SUVs the entire way back. I do have AWD coupled with the 17 RFTs so obviously if you have RWD only then I would get dedicated snow tires.

I actually just upgraded my RFTs to Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Haven't tried them in snow yet, but they have very positive reviews.

I have an 06 330i and I have been running the OEM all seasons for the past two NE winters and I commute about 70mi a day..... I never felt unsafe.. Haha lucky I guess

Unsafe is one thing but stuck and miserable are another lol. I never felt unsafe in my bald ass blizzaks but I certainly didn't enjoy driving either.

True snow tires would be my choice in your locale. The best all-season that might be usable in light snow would be the Continental DWS, Dry, Wet, Snow tire.

you cant go cheap on tires...go with michelins or bridgestones, NON-RFT of course
Im running AS bridgestone 960s, love them all year round. I use to swap out winters every year and just got tired of it even with a 5 sec full lift jack and garage, but then we also have a suv so if your ride is also your DD then might need dedicated winter tires.

i just put kumho all seasons on my 335, its actually the 2nd set i purchased and i never had a problem in new england weather. they're much better than oem run flats.

Since we're in NE, we get very random weathers, so I'm looking for tires that can take on the ALL MIGHT N.E. BAD ROADS & MONSTER POTHOLES along with rain and cold weather. I've heard good things about price and quality on the Conti. DWS. Any thoughts? And yeah I would def. get non-RFT.
