E46 wheels on E90 (different offset) question

Hello
I have a 2008 328xi Touring with 16" rims, and can get a cheap set of 16" OEM alloys from 1999 325i. Mine are supposedly high offset and 1999 are medium offset. Bolt pattern is the same. Has anyone fitted earlier generation rims on E90 and were there any issues?

Most people are not doing it, as the E46 45mm offset wheels run too close to the spring/strut on E9x cars (35mm offset).
