Ticking noise possible lifter?

My girlfriend just purchased a 2006 330 sedan so I took it down to my dads shop to detail it since it was a little chilly to do it out under the carport. Everything sounded good no odd noises. As I'm finishing up I start it up and hear a very loud ticking noise. And it didn't stop till I turned off the car. I started it up again and it didn't make the sound, and I haven't heard it since and that was Saturday morning when I heard it. So was it just a little glitch or should I have it checked out?

Sounds like a Vanos Solenoid. I had to replace both my intake and exhaust right at 100,000miles.... Cleared my tapping sound right up. It also comes back as the oil gets older.

Her car has just over 45k on it. So it makes me think it's not that but then again it could be. I'm taking it to get it checked out Thursday. I just wanted to see what some people thought so it gave me an idea what it could be.

Its normal its the lifters ticking, there is a huge thread about it, don't worry about it its not a real problem, dealer will probably tell you the same thing, btw thats a low mileage 330i dam.

Garage List
Avoid short trips with the car where the engine does not get up to proper temperature etc. Drive the car as it was intended to be driven, this all helps the HVA's remain happy!

That's roughly the same mileage that mine has!
