Here is a video of a few laps from my 3rd session, nothing too exciting. Was playing fairly safe as it was my first time with out and instructor.

Was a ton of fun, learned plenty more this time around, hopefully can keep on learning and improving my driving.
Counted 2:12. Definitely respectful.

Aki, 2:08 is not bad at all. What was your best time in the 335? What do you think you can get the e36 down to? R compound or street tires?

What a difference in the 2 days. Sunday was 60 deg and rain/mist, which cleared up by 1pm. At least my oil temps never saw more than 255.

Saturday was awesome...meet up with everybody and got a hang of driving with the new mods and without an instructor. What a blast....saw oil temp highest about 290 during session 2 but after that no where near since it got pretty cold. Btw that's with a AT non-oil cooler

Where did everyone end up parking? I was at the far end of the grand stand along with one other 335i, although I don't believe he was a forum poster either.

FWIW, I had a decent time although I drove like garbage compared to the last time up at Infineon.

There were only 2 335i's there on Sunday, mine and a space gray e92 (looked stock).

on Saturday - we were right next to pre-grid basically just like the instructors section but opposite side.

here are the pix from the only person that totaled there car in HPDE1/2 on Saturday poor kid was about to cry when he was telling us he spun out coming out of 11 because he stepped on it to early and to hard and tried to correct it but ended up in the wall. hopefully his parents knew he took the car to the track....

The SG e92 was me. There was an silver (tiag?) e90 next to me as well. We were both in HPDE 1/2A.

Which were you? I think I saw a pretty fast looking 335i in the hyperdrive, was that you by chance?

I never got above 275 all of Saturday, wonder if the difference is mainly the oil cooler or the auto?

This what your looking for? Cooldown lap, stuck behind a ferrari who's been crawling around the corners and gunning it on the straits... Must fight temptation to pass...

I think his dad is one of the instructors. Luckily he was all good and the car isn't too expensive

I think the best from the E92 was also 2:08 or so, so this is comparable (on the second day driving it). The E92 was probably on PS2s or R-comps in the front and PS2s in the rear. The E36 was on Dunlop Direzzas.

Also, goal is 2mins. JBass is at 1:57 in a similar E36 coupe.

Happy to hear you're liking the E36. I have E36 envy now. I think it's as fast as a very well sorted 335 but in a different way.

I love the E36 but it really needs better tires. Although the Nitto NT05 is good it's not great. Direzza is far better in the dry and wet. Stick with those until you wanna go to Rs.

I feel a 1:55 with Rs on the E36 is possible with my current level of driving.

BTW. If you have a 335 with some suspension and a tune you can do a 1:55 with some good practice. Look for a 1:58 without a tune.

Ok next time or year, we'll set up a specific area in the paddock for all of us to meet and hang out.

One could not have asked for great day for trackin'.

Paul and I had some good back and forth placement swaps.

My friend Aram spun at 8 or 8A. As mentioned before. One poor kid tried to punch a hole in the barrier. Vinyl wrapping a Ferrari 430 looks awful.

Dan, there was a Yellow Maserati GT Coupe present. I wasn't sure if that's the same one that hit the wall last year.

Here are some pics:

Yea that was me. I didn't have time to do the full day last weekend, so Hyperdrive is better than nothing I was pretty much doing laps around the Hyperdrivers, and I thought group 1 is slow...

Cool. That was my GF in the hyperdrive with my car. Probably the scariest 20 minutes of Sunday was watching her drive out there after the rain all morning, but she did well and had fun.

Shame I missed all the fun (and sun!) on Sat. Next time perhaps.
