Thumbs down another DME failure 07 335i 67k

so hears the story i got my car back on 11/10 bmwna decides to change my transmission due to jerking and a trans error every once in a while.

then on 11/13 i went WOT for the fun of it, around 6300 rpm come buy and i heare a pop a huge backfire i get it to limp home and the car gets towed to the dealer in the morning , they change my low pressure fuel sensor ,lpfp ,hpfp,6 injectors, 6 coils, 6 plugs. then they realize its the DME and cant get a aproval from bmwNA the car has been sitting at the dealership for 28 days and cant get a approval for dme

the car is a 2007 e92 335i CPO with 67k on the odo

Assuming that you're CPO, I would refuse to pick up the car. I would open a case with BMWNA and blame the other work they did as the root cause of the failure.

I hope that you have a loaner.

28 days for a new DME??? That's nuts, I understand it's not a cheap part, but that's ridiculous. We're not talking about new pistons here...At least on the bright side your fueling and ignition is all brand new!

Damn, sorry to hear. Any idea why the DME went? Did you install the JB4 before this happened?

Low pressure sensor is the first step in diagnosing this issue. Then they move on to the plugs, coils injectors. They tried that BS with me and I told them I would pick my car up and take care of it myself.

I replaced the faulty MOSFETs on the ECU (mine happened to be 1&2) and then changed out one of the coils (ECU took it with it). $80 later my car is up and running. Never will I take my car back to the dealership, I am out of warranty and their while goose chase diagnostics end up being pricey. The pathetic thing is the fault code clearly states 'Internal Electronic Malfunction' (something like that) and they look at fueling first.

07 DMEs can have faulty Diodes in the injector MOSFETS (they short).

Dealership Techs love to ignore codes, i'm assuming they operate on the assumption that all owners are clueless and have no idea how their cars operate. A few weeks back I brought my car in with lambda o2 codes, the precat o2 was clearly fried, and they tried to blame it on my dci. What do you know...it was a precat o2

Take it to another dealer. I got mine replaced together with 6 injector and 6 coil packs. 64K miles no warranty.

loaner at 25? Nuts policy is 21 most or all places. Shit I remember getting loaners at 18 way back when. Sorry about your situation but I would personally call BMWNA and demand my car back with the issue fixed.

So are they waiting for approval, or they can't get it and they want you to pay for it outright?

You can always pay for a new DME and then send info to BMW NA for a refund, but its not 100% guaranteed.

You need to contact BMW NA.

Or you can open up the dme and find the bad MOSFET and replace it for .25c, i've been in your boat.

Dude honestly, I'm sure there are a few Under Cover BMW NA peeps on here on here man I would not have even posted what you did unless you told them how it actually happened...

Especially if you're trying to get them to cover something, they could say its from abuse.

I have 60K on mine and just had the mecatronic sleeve and new trans pan the dealer did an inspection and scan and only other issue was the oil filter housing gasket. What are some issues you had? I also have jb4 and car is running good
