Nice, I'll give this cruise some thought.

For those of you that haven't been on this route before, this is one of THE BEST routes to take for a cruise in Colorado! "Horse Power Hill" is part of this route!

It's on my calendar! Looking forward to this! I will likely skip the return trip to Colorado Springs and head home at 470 and 25.

Now, if I'm not supposed to do this, then say so ...

If anyone in Denver Metro would like to meet in Parker for a scenic trip down Highway 83, through the bustling metropolis of Franktown, and the Black Forest, and finally to Colorado Springs and Starbucks; I would be happy to help coordinate when it gets closer to time. There won't be much hill climbing and many hair-pin turns ... but I find the scenery far superior to that of I-25 ... and frankly, I get tired of the drag races between two semi's for miles at a time at 68 MPH!

Shane -- good point about the return trip. For the Denver folks that will be joining, the journey essentially ends once we make our way into Denver.

By all means, if you want to coordinate your own "pre-cruise cruise" (haha), then go for it!

Only problem about Hwy 83 is all the bugs your car picks up. But it is definitely a much nicer drive than I-25 as long as you don't get stuck behind the slow moving motorcycle packs.

Not sure about this drive...really depends on the weather for me.

Of the 20 or so times I've driven down to the springs or back this way I've never had a problem with bugs. I have had the occasional problem with a slow poke or two.

We'll see what happens when March gets here ... I have a potential conflict that I just remembered, but hopefully I can make it work.

Huh, I have a buddy who lives down in COS on Powers, so I take that route a lot, and seems like every time I go down my car gets plastered in bugs.

This is a great route, as long as you don't get stuck behind some slow vehicles. There are miles and miles of double yellow with no passing zones. Also a lot of motorcycles, and bicycles.

I did this route with my company last year, put some vid here of the southbound route:

Count me in weather permitting. Denver drivers should meet up somewhere for the drive down to the Springs

Thanks for the link. That looks fun... Think I will have to pick one of those up for HPR, etc! BTW, did you see the video "Formula Car Racing" video (06:02 179mb) at http://www.goprocamera.com/hdheropreview/ ? That's some inspired driving, it's one of the best race videos I've ever seen. The one titled "Porsche - Track" is good too, it's a video of 2 laps at Laguna Seca during a race, not just a track day.

I'll see if I can make the drive, if so, I'll be "finishing" in Denver too.
