Not allowed to order Style 225M Wheels on a 2010 335i M-Sport?

Does anyone know why my dealer would not let me order the 19-inch 225M wheels with my new 335i M-Sport Package vehicle (USA)? I was forced to stick with the 18-inch style 193M wheels that come with the M-Sport Package. This was dissapointing!

Doesn't make any sense, the 225's are an option on the ordering sheet.

Believe it or not, my dealer has told me the same thing. He says there is a freeze in the system on ordering these rims right now, so I have not been able to get a production number for my car. I suspect it is related to the cracking issues these wheels have in the UK. Maybe they are redesigning them or trying to decide if they will continue selling them.

I wonder what some alternative 19's they might offer if they decide not to use the 225M? Surely they have to offer a 19" option on the m-sport package.

If that is true, I am sure they will replace the 19s with something else.

I'm wondering if they'd just substitute something like a set of 230s, which I'd have no problem with.

I doubt they will use 230s, since those have been available for a while.

A set of 313s couldn't hurt either, haha.

Well, I was able to order my 2011 335is with the 225M rims, but the dealer hasn't actually put the order into the computer yet (they still aren't accepting the orders yet), so who knows. I'll let you know next week after they put the order in. Supposedly the first week of March is when they will be able to enter the order for the car.

Are you ordering a E90 335i or E92 335i? The 19" 225M is only available when you order the E92.

I changed my order from a 2010 335i to a 2011 335is Coupe. Ordering the 225M wheels are apparently not a problem for the 2011 for some odd reason.

It wasn't a problem because your order isn't in the computer yet. When you dealer goes to enter the order, he/she will see that the 19" option has been restricted. Be prepared to live with the 18's unless something changes. This is almost certainly related to the 225M wheels having widespread cracking issues in the UK. Hopefully BMW is working on a way to resolve this in a new batch of wheels without altering the design, and they will allow us to order them very soon.

You've ruined my dream! The new 2011 335is really has a lot of "dark" features (black kidney grills, black side mirrors, black shadowline trim). The 18" wheels that come with the 335is have ferric gray in the design that really makes the wheels also look dark from the side. The 225M wheels were going to bring this car back from the darkness for me and rescue the look. Now I'm bummed. Well, I guess having the 18" rims would be better than the 225M's cracking at high speed and ending up with bad things happening! I'll keep you posted as my order unfolds this week (hopefully this week).

Likewise, I'm going to contact my dealer about it again this week, and then I'm just going to go with the 18's so that my order isn't held up any longer.

I'm surprised it took that long for someone to respond with the cracking but they have been restricted despite you being able to equip your build a car on BMW's website so who really knows.

269s I could live with; not a huge fan of the 190s. My first picks would be: 313s, 230s, w/e else.

It looks like you slipped in under the wire (Merry Christmas) before they started putting a hold on the 225M wheels. Be careful what you wish for, as they say. It won't be any fun for you when your back rims develop cracks and you show up to the dealer and they try to tell you that it is your fault, that you must have run over some big potholes or something, and they want YOU to pay to replace them! See the following scary article...

Anybody got an update on this lately? There's a person on bfest who placed an order yesterday with the 225M and says he has a production number already. That's the first I've heard of somebody getting a confirmed production number with these rims. Maybe they have been released to order?

Why would your dealer do this? They are on the configurator on BMW USA web site.
