Which Stock Exhaust do I want?
When I bought my car used, it came with the BMW Performance Exhaust with just about 1k miles on it, and I was going to trade some guy for his stock 328i exhaust.
I was reading somewhere on this forum that people were actually installing a 330 or 325 exhausts on 328s because they sounded better than the 328is which were quiet, but I haven't been able to track down the thread. Can anyone reflect on which is the "stock exhaust to own"? or is it moot between the 325/330/328? If its really a different "stock exhaust" I want, then I'll make a few bucks more just selling the BMW Performance Exhaust and picking up a stock exhaust on here, but if its a moot point then I'll just take the 328. Thanks! (note this car is just a DD, so I'd rather have the cash. I actually race cars and have 3 other performance vehicles when speed matters. I'm going to pass this off to my Wife and pick up a new one because we really like them. She just drives to work and back, not too far, so it will work great for her). Performance doesn't really matter. |

I would just consider adding a resonator to the PE, make it quieter.
OEM exhaust has a resonator that is removed with PE install

You won't be able to hear any noticeable difference in sound between the 3 e90s.
I would keep the PE. Not too loud but gives the car a well-deserved sporty tone.

I've had mine for years now, I still love it.
I had a 328i coupe loaner all week, when I got my car back I couldn't believe how satisfying it sounded.

Going rate on used PEs is like 700-900. I know its not a lot of money, but I'd rather have the cash... its kind of a waste. Between those and the winter wheels with blizzaks, I think I can pull $1300 out of it or so which could in itself be the Cold Weather Package or Dynamic Handling Package on a new 335i. I don't do car loans, so that money really would turn into an extra option package or two! I really want the tech package, Cold weather package, driver assistance package, and dynamic handling package, but I'm a few bucks short of what I really want without tapping into my savings!

False. OEM 330i is noticeably deeper and louder. 325i/328i sounds like nothing.
