JB3 For N55 Question

Hi all. My car is at the dealership getting serviced, and I am getting my driver side mirror replaced due to the fact that it squeaks incredibly loud when folding in or out. I am also getting the latest software update as part of the service. I was told my by SA that the side view mirror will need programming to install. I just bought a JB3 from a user on the forum, and was told that it was updated with the latest firmware. Should I be worried about installing the JB3 and having it conflict somehow with the latest BMW software or the programming that is done on the car for the mirror? Thanks

The jb3 doesn't have any updates I don't think. The jb4 does. If you are getting the latest dme software update I would just go for the jb4 it's a lot better.

I already bought a JB3 and it's coming in the mail soon. Pretty sure you can update firmware on JB3 unless I'm mistaken.

You can program with the JB3 installed. I would just leave it off however just to make sure there are no issues at all.

You can update firmware on the JB3 as well. But the JB4 is much much better.

don't really see much point in installing it and leaving it off...

I believe he means putting the JB3 in the stock mode while your car is being updated at the dealership.

I know what you are asking as far as the JB3 conflicting with the new software update from BMW and I would say probably not but it wouldn't hurt to double check with Terry at Burger Tuning.

Leave it off as in do not install it to avoid any conflicts during programming.

Or set it to MAP 0 during programming.

If its fails programming because of a piggback the dealer may charge you. Just trying to help out.

Thanks everybody. The tune is not installed on the car yet, I actually meant when I get the car back will I have any problems in terms of the latest firmware on the JB3 conflicting with the latest bmw software or any of the programming that is going to be done for the side view mirror? Thanks.

No, if you install it after they program the car you will have zero issues.

One thing though, are you sure they are programming the car for replacing the mirror? The mirror is not a module and there shouldn't be a need to program the vehicle after replacement.

They are replacing the whole driver side mirror and said they needed to program it (whether or not my SA knows his stuff is another question) but the only thing I can see the programming needed for is the folding operations of the mirror?
