Anyone put JB4 on 335 w/o Sport?
Hello All,
I have a 2011 335i x-drive. Unfortunately, I do not have the Sports Package (ZSP), and therefore, do not have an Oil Cooler. I really wish I had read these forums prior to getting the car! In any case, BMW will not install the performance upgrade (PPK) on a 335i w/o the oil cooler. The dealer quoted ~$4k to install the oil cooler! Has anyone tried putting the JB4 (or any tune for that matter) without having an oil cooler? Anyone have any thoughts or recommendations? Would the engine not be able to take it? I live in Massachusetts where it is normally cold. However, it does get warm in the summers. Nonetheless, I would like to drive it year-round. Thanks! |

I have a none sport 335 with jb4 and everything is fine. I think your good if this is just your daily driver, with the occasional spirited drive. I would put an oil cooler on if I where tracking my car though or lived in real hot place.

I'm not tracking it at all. I use it for daily driving and the occasional spirited drive.
How long have you had yours on? What map are you using? What is the weather like where you drive it? Anyone else try any other tune or also have experience with JB4? |

A lot of the later years on the n54 335i's didn't come with the oil cooler and a lot of them run just fine with jb4 and even more mods. Just be sure to watch your oil temps. JB4 is a very good tune and if I'm correct it has a safety built in where it disables it self when the oil gets too warm...
In my very useless and random opinion I say you'll be fine. Tune it and have fun! |
