Doh, I thought I was onto something

Maybe it is something that you need to add to the VO? Have you gone through the list of VO codes just to see?

Personally I'd only click Process Car if I was coding with a blank MAN file to restore everything to defaults, which is a nice escape hatch if you brick something (though if your VO got hosed it won't help that). I'd never try to implement features that way.

On US cars the passenger mirror tilts down when the switch is set to the driver's side. Kind of weird I know, and I also wish it were possible to tilt the driver's side mirror down when I have to park along the left curb of a one-way street, for example. On the Acura TL Type-S I traded in, if the switch was toggled to passenger, the passenger mirror tilted down, and if it was toggled to driver, the driver mirror tilted down. What a concept! There was even a middle position to do nothing, which also prevented accidentally adjusting the mirrors.

That's actually a good idea. I haven't really read up on changing the VO yet, but I thought that was just a summary of vehicle options for record sake - didn't know it had any effect on enabling any parameters which are already in the module?

It actually does. By adding items to the VO, you are able to enable certain functionalities which were not present in the car to start with; sometimes it may mean just adding a feature that is present but "locked", and other times you add a physical module and then enable the feature (i.e. satellite radio).

Now ... if only I could figure out how to enable paddle shift after adding a paddle steering wheel and adding it to the VO, that would truly be golden. Anybody try that?

My understanding (which may not be accurate) is that the VO tells the car what options it has. That's used when installing software updates, for example, but I believe it's also used to determine whether the car even looks at the preferences you're coding. If the car has a VO that doesn't include the alarm code, for example, then I believe changing the alarm beep/flash preferences won't do anything because the car won't even use the alarm even if it has one at that point. But I'm not 100% on that.

Here is the latest active auction from the same seller:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-I...item2eb4ac4cce

This is their home page:
http://www.one-stop-electronics.com/shop/

The cable link on the first page seems to link to a different seller than the one that we all bought it from.

Haven't tried this yet but it should work. Let me know.

Module: KOMBI
M_TAG_SKALENBELEUCHTUNG -> aktiv

Has anyone tried this? I think it would work well with a white LED conversion in the cluster.

I've been able to get everything working, programmed some functions.
But I have a question for E70 owners.
I read the thread, and it's not clear whether anyone succeeded with folding mirrors. I followed the spreadsheet, but even after that mirrors don't fold.
Other functions coded fine (seat belt chime etc.).
Am I missing something?
I should add - I found and changed SPIEGEL_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP (no ASP_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP) in the FRM module. I noticed that someone said auto window roll-up should also be enabled (KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB/KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_PA). Is that the case? I already have KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_PA active as a default feature...

Hey guys, I read all pages, looked at the videos, and even skimmed over at *********. Just got my cable and got it configured. For starters want to try the digital speed. However, after reading all the posts, I’m a little confused.

In Junior’s DIY, at step 61, we open the .TRC file then save as a .MAN file. At this point, can we not just save the “BC_DIGITAL_V” value (actually, mine shows this and BC_DIGITAL_V_KORREKTUR) and delete the rest since that is the only thing we want to change? That is the inference I picked up from later posters since it seems like the .MAN file is a temp/per job use anyhow?

Also, at step 53 and/or 57, do we always select CAS? Later in this thread, I’ve read the digital speed is actually in KOMBI?

Sorry for the noob questions. Didn’t think I’d ever code my car, but this forum is great. Want to get the basics down, for whenvever I get to do my alarm install. Thanks.

Hey, my car is old, 2006. So I only needed this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

If you're pre- 3/07 (or 4/07?), it will work. If so, be sure to get a decent serial-to-usb cable and configure per the DIY.

Sorry, just saw you're 4/07. Then I think you need the DCAN cable that everyone has mentioned.

Hey. I'll help!
First of all the "...V_KORREKTUR" is only the line that enables the TRUE speed on the dash AFTER you enable the digital speed function. So yes, you CAN just update the lines of code and THEN save the .TRC file as the .MAN file.

In the step of first selecting CAS you then select back and go in to select individual modules. So yes the KOMBI is what you need but thats after you go through the first step of selecting CAS which brings up your VO etc.

Answered myself - window roll-up IS needed first (both CA and keyfob), for the mirrors to fold.

FYI, coded an 06 with LCI headlights last night. Enabled the DRL code in the FRM module and now when light switch is off the highs were enabled as DRL at a lower voltage. Kinda cool.
