Went for Oil change. Service indicator not reset?

Hi Folks, I took my car for first oil change (After I got it). It was due in October 2011 but I aleady drove it 7500 miles. They replaced the microfilter and did an oil change but when I looking at the "Service Info" on iDrive its still showing me Oil Service due in 9000 miles (There isnt any change in this number before and after the oild change). Am I missing something?

whoever did your oil change probably didn't reset the service, which in a way is good for you, that way you can get a free oil change from BMW sooner. I assume you did not take the car to the dealer to get your oil change?

Your dealer (or whoever did the change) was correct in not resetting the countdown for the reason patrickch gave.

My dealer never resets for either time based (one year) or interim (on my dime) changes.

Not necessarily . If you reset it, you can get air filter, transmission fluid and differential fluid replaced sooner. But yes, dealers are not supposed to reset the system unless the computer calls for service.

Huh? How is the air filter replaced sooner if you extend the mileage countdown?

And since when are tranny & diff. fluid included in covered maintenance for a 335i? They are considered "lifetime" by BMW.

Dealer willnot reset if it's not CBS based service. I've had the dealer do a couple interim oil services because the car was in for some other issue and it was simpler and they do not reset. When yu go in for your yearly or mileage based service they will reset. Non issue enjoy your car.

Last time they called me for HPFP recall but they only reprogrammed it. My car was driving fine before and after, this time they also change the pump.

That sounds oike the charge for an "Oil Service" rather than a simple oil & filter change which should be about $100 at most dealers. Next time, specify only the oil/filter change unless you want the other stuff done as well.
