Jack adapters

Just wondering, does anyone have these adapters? They are pretty cheap, but are they any good?

I bought one of these and it's been great...

Don't understand why you'd want four.

So you can use jack stands. I never or almost never use the jack points for a hydraulic jack, I use the jack under the front or rear subframes, and put the car on jack stands. I use a cut up hockey puck at each jack point, cut to fit the rectangular space, to set it on jack stands. Used to use wood blocks but they kept splintering.

I have thought about using pucks before but never cut into one. What'd you use to cut them to shape with?

Clamped it in a bench vise and used an ordinary hack saw. Thickness wise the puck fits right up into the rectangular opening on the jack point receptacle thing. Tilt a puck on its side and hold it up there you'll see what I mean.

Out of one puck I cut 4 pieces, 2 with the outer curve still on them, two without. I have 2 sets of jackstands one that has flat tops and one with curved ones. So the flat puck pieces I use on the flat set and the curved ones fits right into the curved ends of the other set.

With the puck pieces up in there the puck rubber is so hard it does not deform at all with the car weight on them, nor does the plastic on the jack point, and jack stands are pretty solid.

For the jack pad, I just cut a piece of square tubing. I think I used 1" square and cut the length to fit inside of the jack spot. I usually just use the central jack points though then set the car down on jack stands at the jack points. My jack stand DIY is here:

I ordered a set of the jack pads listed below because they looked a little better made than the others that I saw and also because they're supposed to be "self-gripping" and supposedly won't fall out when you put them in place.

See: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-JACK-PAD...-/200933359265

Need to use one of them to install the siren for the OEM alarm system in the rear driver's side wheel well.

Update: Just got the jack pad adapters and they're nice but 3 out of 4 of my jack pads have been damaged and the adapters won't fit properly in them. So, I've got to buy some replacement pads now too.

Oh well . . .
