Roof Spoiler functionality
Does anyone know if the AC Schnitzer roof spoiler is actually engineered for high speeds or is it mainly aesthetic?
Here is a picture of it and it seems to be the most common roof spoiler I see on E9X cars. |

I doubt it creates much difference. You would benefit more from suspension upgrades than a roof-spoiler for high-speed stability. Unless we are talking like 170+ mph, in which case it might create a few extra lbs of downforce, still not worth it at a performance perspective. Also, i wouldnt say that it is a performance inhibitor either. Having your windows down would influence your aerodynamics more than having this or not having this.
My $0.02, which you can take with a grain of salt.

it's engineered to fuck up the rain water and have it swirl around the window instead of running off.
