I am interested in getting a set of Brembo's, Rotora's, or StopTech but that just isnt realyl viable when they are about $3000 for the big kits...

But! There has to be other aftermarket options to get drilled/slotted rotors and the large brake calipers over my stock ones...Any suggestions?

Big Caliper look?

You can always get slotted rotors and paint your OEM calipers with a high quality caliper paint.

As for fitting other brake components, there's so much more than just slapping them on. You have consider annulus measurements, correct bias, and so on.

You can potentially ruin the way your car brakes if you're not careful.

Doesn't rotora have a big caliper setup for the oem rotors? I believe it's about half the cost of a "full" setup.

I don't think I would want to stick with only one kind of brake pad choice and bigger calipers doesn't necessarily mean quicker stopping.

It's the pad surface area and piston diameter that REALLY influences stopping power.

I think the Rotora is a great option since the OP is looking for the look. The stock rotors are fine and he can replace them with others of the same dimensions when ready. Reduces up front costs by a good amount.

As far as pads, it is nice to have a wide range of choices but let the OP do the research on the pads they want and they can decide if Rotora is a good choice.

I know some members have had a great experiences with them and they are a lot less than others.

With all of this I have a full StopTech kit but I was considering the Rotora option.

In a word -- no. Properly designed and developed larger calipers are useless without a corresponding and synergistic effort put into improving the rotors. There is a ton of physics, engineering, aerodynamics and other stuff that goes into a big brake kit that just isn't done when slapping on a larger caliper on an OE disc just because it might physically fit. Sorry, but it's best to save up or don't bother. Just go with a quality rotor upgrade, quality pads and quality stainless steel lines.

I mean, these BMWs aren't exactly cheap cars. Y'all bought a real performance sedan and want to put "performance looking" brakes on? You've got to be kidding me. Should have bought a budget, used econobox Mister Two and put a "performance looking" body kit on it to make it look like a Ferrari if that's what you're into.

Hmmm it seems I need to clarify, I dont want to spend $3k on a big brake set, is their cheaper options?

I can get a set of wheels that look like HRE's for nearly a third of the price. What options do I have for this?

Performance Slotted or Drilled rotors, big calipers and pads, etc etc.

Try the BMW performance rotors. They're about 2k. They're also solid calipers and come with slotted and crossdrilled rotors.

Just paint your calipers gloss black and get some drilled rotors. Avoid painting your calipers a color you may see on a 1999 honda civic

+1. If you track the car or drive it hard on twisty roads then big brakes are a good idea. If not, then there really is no point. I like the linear and progressive feel of the stock brakes. They are pretty powerful and never let me down. A lot of the ebay options look pretty tempting, but they might not be up to par in terms of quality (ie rotors will probably warp prematurely). BMW performance is always a good place to look because everything was engineered in house so you know the quality is there.

The OPs requirements are actually the perfect reason to buy the BMW performance brakes. They aren't up to the performance of the Brembos, StopTechs, AP Racing, etc., but they offer everything the OP is looking for as long as they like the way they look.
