Driving under the influence over limit? (POLL)
Have you driven under the influence over your state limit? There is something to be said about folks partying and leaving afterwards over the limit.
The above poll will not share your username upon voting. UPDATE: Will be adding/editing poll questions shortly. Last edited by sonic1; 10-31-2015 at 02:37 PM.. |

Never understood why anyone would go somewhere to have a few drinks and bring their car... cabs are cheap. A single glass of wine at dinner is one thing but anything more is not something I understand. Especially the folks that frequent these forums as they can clearly afford a $20 cab ride

I grew up in Texas in a town without cabs, DWI incidence I feel has to be higher per capita in rural areas...

I think you some sort of other option between "I don't drink whatsoever..." and "Over the limit once a month." I think it is possible to drink but stay under the limit (e.g. glass of wine with dinner).

I mainly drink at home or at friends house with the assumption that I will be spending the night. If for some reason I am going to be drinking in public area and I do have to drive myself there, I have a breathalyzer I bought that I can help monitor my intake. |

Seems kind of preachy to me. Everyone knows you should use a rubber, not drink and drive, not text and drive, dont put hookers in the trunk and so on but reality is those things happen all the time. Someone's doing it and if politics are any indicator those that protest the most are the biggest offenders.

friends don't let friends drink and drive. Either have a DD, Call for a ride, take a cab, or don't drink in the first place. its not rocket science.
Having a few drinks and driving home is the quickest and easiest way to ruin your life. |

In all seriousness though, 2 major wake-up calls for me that ensures that if I can't past a field sobriety test and/or breathalyzer, my car is staying put; I do not even take a sip of so much as a Nasty *ahem* Natty Light until I confirm there's a DD: 1. Way back in 2003, I had a pal who called me at 1 AM since I was nearby (I don't know how he fucking did too; in retrospect I was impressed considering there was no BT and cells were as basic as they came), after being rear-ended by a drunk driver, but he died on the scene, so there goes the satisfaction of killing his ass with a tire iron. Forensics estimated he was going 70 MPH and didn't step on the brakes when he rammed into my friend's car, where he took his last breath in front of me, covered in blood and I saw what no 17 year old should see: his left arm torn clear off by the A-pillar but still twitching, and enough blood to make the car in Pulp Fiction look like My Little Pony... I still have flashbacks to this day. R.I.P Stephen Howard. 2. Speaking of deaths, I had another so-called friend who was pretty awesome at first; she was a LOADED real estate dev and owned an Aston Martin and a Range Rover Sport Autobio Edition (which I drove both)... But we were cool until I discovered that she's on her 3rd DUI, which keep in mind Stephen has been dead for not even 2 years, and what they make the drunkard do in those cases is go to a morgue, and guess who had to take her sorry ass (I was going through college and $200 was really tempting)? After she got home, I just told her off and stormed out the door; never talked to her after that. With that, now that most of the kinks are fixed in my car and I'm in between temp assignments until I find a permanent job (especially since I've been prepping for moving the past 2 months and finally have enough resources to), one contributing reason I'm signing up for Uber is to hopefully have at least one less drunk driver on the road.

I don't drink and drive but, I have locked up numerous people for it. if u choose to drink and drive, don't cry or look for a break when u get caught, just be glad u didn't kill anyone. For NY it's .05 to .069 for impaired and .07 is totally intoxicated.

I received a wet and reckless for sleeping in my vehicle over the legal limit. The keys were not in the ignition, but the car was running because I had the heater on. Blew a .08 the rest history. I was pissed at first, but I figured it was payback for getting away with it a few times during my twenties. Not worth it to say the least.

Whenever I hit the bars, I either walk to them or uber. Uber is huge here in the city and it's just too convenient. I'm also fortunate enough to work about a quarter mile from my condo. So if co-workers want to go to HH and for some reason I drove to work that day, I'll drop the car off or leave it at work. I have family in the burbs, which I'll meet up with occasionally and I'll uber there too. $25 uber both ways plus drinks is an expensive night but I'd rather do $100 in drinks/uber than the thousands with a DWI
