Passenger airbag light possessed?
Start the car, passenger airbag light goes on...then after a little, goes off...with NO ONE in the seat. Is this normal or should the passenger airbag light ALWAYS be on when no one is in the seat?

Well there was recall for certain years and models. It requires sometimes changing the sensor mat in the passenger seat. Sometimes the belt needs work. Sometimes just and update. When they did mine, the effed up the seatbelt. Had to go back to get them to fix it. Funny thing is the light does the same thing now, after the supposedly fixed it.

LAst service I told the SA about that and he said it is supposed to turn off after a little even if no one is in the seat. But I asked as I was leaving and I am not sure if he said that just to get me outta there.

Well if i was you, id let him know youre aware of an airbag recall on certain model years, and youd like to know if yours is affected. And if so for him to take care of it for you.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have some insight into this.
My 2011 335 came with a very early version of the N55 software, and it was programmed to keep the light on (Airbag Off light on the ceiling) if there was no passenger. It was also malfunctioning for me, so they replaced the matt, the connector and updated the software. The newer software is programmed to light the light only for the first few seconds after the car is started, then it turns off. I verified it with a loaner '12 car which does exactly the same thing, and I know it's different than when I got my car because I actually took video of it when I took it in to be fixed. |
